As for the original article that said people don't name their kids after politicians... there is an old fraternity buddy of mine who named his girls Reagan and Harper.  I don't chat much with him but I asked him once on Facebook if he named them after the politicians... he totally did.   

I got shot down using Preston as a name though.

I named my first two children Jackson William and Carter James. I wanted to name my third son Harrison John, but his dad wouldn't let me.

After Timothy and Andrew someone pointed out to us that our boys had biblical names.  It hadn't been our intention at first, but we decided to stick with that theme when we named Joshua.

That's blasphemy to a Christian.. or should be. The whole point of Jesus was that he washed away the Old Testament. He was the New Beginning.

That isn't blasphemy, nor even close to it, Meri. And nor should it be. Saying the Old Testament is the Word of God is accurate, even if Jesus "washed [it] away" (which he didn't). Jesus Himself asserted that the Old Testament was the Word.

As someone who happily identifies as Christian... while in certain areas Christ introduced a New Covenant that over-rode the old, it by no means invalidated the Old Testament.
