In one of those quantitative easing things that don't make sense to me, the ECB and Bundesbank now buy German government debt with considerable negative yield, i.e. they pay the German government for the privilege of owning its debt. How does that work with the explicit prohibition to pay government operations through the central bank...?

Wasn't that the issue resolved by the ECJ when it overruled the German constitutional court ruling on OMTs?
No idea. I have a hard time reading decisions by the ECJ. The German constitutional court decisions are much clearer and understandable.

The Concorde is apparently a fighter plane now too.  Looks like a Citation or some other bizjet to the right of it.

Actually, looking at that....the USN has....1 destroyer class, the Arleigh Burkes. I guess you could count the Littoral Combat Ships as frigates, and since they split that into the "regular" and "new hotness" versions, there's 2 frigates for a total of 3.  What's the other one?  The cruisers?

Yeah I was going to raise these points and that Seigy's Striker ain't no MBT, but couldn't be bothered and just knew other Languishites would pick up on it; it is our way after all.

edit:

So I can't help myself, but why do they think the US still has F14s in service along with what looks like Grippens and possibly Rafale/Typhoons.
Those modified DC-9s must be an interesting air-to-air weapons platform.

Of the six only the F16 is correct?

IIRC there was a reference to the ECJ and they ruled the OMTs were kosher.

:D It's what we do.  My guesses:  That looks like (top L >R) F-14, Su-27, Firefox with Clint Eastwood in it, then (bottom L > R) Concorde, Bizjet, maybe Gripen but it looks too narrow.  The Euro side has Hornets, F-35s, Super Hornets, F-15s, F-14s, and F-16s.  Basically the whole US inventory (no F-22), plus Euro fighters like Rafale in the upper L.  The Euro Upper L MBT looks Abrams-ish.

E:  F-16 silhouette is in the middle, third row down.  2nd from the left in the top two rows might be an F-16 from the side, too.  Bottom right looks like a HAL Tejas (I dont think Mirage 2000s have "cranked" wings like that).  I have no idea wtf that is to the left of it.

Fun fact: they have Narcan for dogs. Your dog wants rehab.

Fucking summer.  I goof on a lot of things, and do my part in wishing all sorts of fun and interesting deaths on all sorts of people, but one group I have absolutely zero sympathy for are fucking irresponsible motorcyclists.  Fucking idiots.  You hit 100+ in a 35 mph, you absolutely deserve the death you get.  Unfortunately they take so many poor suckers with them.

Ed Anger

When I was on the orthopedic rehab floor at Miami Valley Hospital in '05, most of the people there were motorcyclists. And you know what they'd say?

CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK RIDING. SURE MY RIGHT SIDE IS ONE GIANT ROAD RASH, BUT I WANT TO RIDE.

I'd just shake my head.

I remember seeing them bring in a single cycle accident off the chopper one night; tried to do the Freddie Flintstone manual brake method, and they were X-raying his lower leg and foot they brought in a plastic bag on the bed next to him, with the other one hanging by some loose meat.  Going over his vitals in trauma admitting, nurse asked for height; doc says, "hhmmm, 4 foot 6 now."  Got a BTK double amputation that night.

Yabba dabba doo, dummy.

Other fun stuff: injecting ice cold dextrose right into the port. THAT SHIT HURTS.
