Our house is 20+ years old.  Most of the neighbors have replaced their shingles, so we knew we needed to as well.

My wife's friend's husband is a roofer.  We got an estimate - seemed very reasonable, so we said sure.  This was on the weekend.

He showed up with his crew today.  In mid February, in Edmonton.

We've had a recent heat wave so the roofs are all clear of snow, but the temperature is dropping back below freezing again even for daytime highs.  So I guess you can do it, but the idea of having roofers work in mid-February seems alien and bizarre to me.

I always heard don't get roof work done in the winter, the crew is cold and miserable so want to leave as fast as possible so do a shitty job. But you know the guy personally so this may not hold.
