How can you value a gorilla's life over a human baby's?  Jeebus what's wrong with some people.

I don't get the whole thing of taking pictures of stuff in museums.

It helps me memorize the things I've seen. And hi-res images are still unvavailable for many if not most objects in museums.

Photographing sculpture can be quite rewarding in itself.

Two California teenagers placed a pair of eyeglasses on the ground at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art as a prank. Visitors were soon treating the glasses as art.

:D

I used to do stuff like that with friends while living in Italy. Point excitedly at random objects with a guide book in hand and within minutes you'll have (mostly Asian) tourists lining up to take pictures and pose in front of it. Good times.

I can do one better than that - when I was visiting Borobodur in Indonesia as a young fellow, I stayed a couple of days to do sketches there - and pretty soon I had Asian tourists lining up to take pictures of me, and pose with me in the background.

Easy: the gorilla is a member of an endangered species.  4 year olds are not.

It didn't work as well as I'd hoped?
I die a little?

Not sure what you mean.

Doesn't matter. People are more important.

Generally yes.  But in this case, not so sure.

I can't one up you guys, but in Paris I was wandering down the champ elysees, and saw a McDonalds. I hardly ever take pictures of things, but I took several pictures of the McDonald's--with the intent of coming back to the US and showing the picture as evidence of "the conquest of our culture".

After taking the pictures, I keep going down the road, turn around, and suddenly several people were taking pictures of the McDonalds. Wtf those people are going to do with pictures of a McDonalds I have no idea. :)
