So awkward to read.

In general, I'm a bit disappointed with the UK and newspapers. With a nation of so many readers, you'd think they'd have a less awkward manner of reading the news on the Tube.

Minsky and Malthus:  I assume you were both strong supporters of America's "constructive engagement" with South Africa in the 1980s?  After all, at least 120 black jobs could have been lost if we took opposed apartheid.

My recollection was that the SAfrica sanctions and boycotts targeted the regime as a whole.  I.e. they were not specifically targeted at Soweto.  That would been silly and counterproductive, like the BDS policy.

Yeah, for sure.

The construction is "I understand why people are sympathetic to [psychopath mass murderer] in light of [development/proposal I do not like]" is fine as a jibe/ sarcasm. I'm okay with that, as long as you extend the courtesy of allowing that same construction to be similarly acceptable for people expressing view points you don't approve of
