I'm thinking about making some bets on Intrade.

DGuller, I think you said you had some experience; any tips?

Yay for racist stereotypes?

While clumsily-done, the point is in the last panel...
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Play money version of it.  What kind of tips are you look for?

Sexy ones.

My main question is about the liquidity.  I'm looking at three different bomb Iran contracts (different end dates).  I can see what unmatched bids are out there, but I wouldn't mind knowing how quickly an offer gets accepted in the absence of unmatched bids.

But maybe in the play money version you're not actually being matched with counterparties.

A totally new gambling opportunity! :w00t:

What's this Mastercard Securcode shit or whatever. I have spent my money through this card online countless times in various amounts. WTF :ultra:

Is anyone here into archery?  I'm thinking about getting a bow, probably a traditional recurve instead of one of those ridiculous-looking Rube Goldberg compound bows, and learning to shoot.

My ultimate goal is to save the universe with my boxing glove arrow, but I should probably start more humbly.

Holy shit, looking at the Hungarian bow site--people still do horse archery?  That's awesome.

I don't think I'm in the market for a horse, however.  Also I think they've got bone and sinew parts.

A few of the ~$250 bows on the Hunter's Friend ( :) ) site look attractive.  I'm sure you do get what you pay for, but $1500 is a down payment on a pretty nice motorcycle, and in any event I doubt the marginal value to a novice is very much.  Maybe if I really got into it or if I wanted to hunt the most dangerous game or something. :P

As for the video, I have no idea if that's objectively good or not, although I'm impressed.  (Although, as a novice, I'm pretty sure "not shooting in the direction of a nearby trafficked road" is probably a cardinal rule.)

For sure a 200.00 bow would be good for the casual archer and build from there. Def some works of art on some of those sites  Ive tinkered with the idea myself of reinvesting time in it.

The bolded part. That's the reason I posted it.

You are matched with couterparties, of course, how else would the price be determined?  I generally did not put any bids out there that weren't immediately matched.  I just didn't like the idea of having a bid floating out there while some price-moving event happened.  I also think that you pay less fees if your bid or ask gets immediately fulfilled.

I just looked at attack Iran bet on Intrade.   :lmfao:  Holy fuck, that's quite a liquidity problem there.  My experience probably doesn't apply here, I've never dealt with 8 point bid/ask spreads.

I started thinking about market-making opportunities there, but then I saw that the daily volume was typically well inside single digits.  That's not enough to get rich off.  :hmm:
