Why you gotta be like that? <_<

You know I love you, Tim, but the random maps without any explanation annoy me.
Ask for an explanation and you shall receive.
I made the map of North America first and this is the
background behind it.

Rather than marching on Quebec in 1775, Arnold invades Nova Scotia,
quickly taking Fort Cumberland. He went on from there to march on Halifax,
joining with the forces of local radical Jonathan Eddy. The principal naval
base of British North America, Halifax, while heavily fortified against attack
by sea was vulnerable to attack from land. Its fall was a devastating blow to
the British war effort.

Nova Scotia would go on to send representatives to the Continental
Congress and future generations would talk of the original 14 colonies rather
than the original 13. The war would end with an independent Quebec and with
American claims to the land southwest of Lake Simcoe and bordered by
Lakes Ontario, Erie and Huron recognized.

In the next century the American would go on to sweep across the
Mississippi like a tsunami, gain hegemony in North America and survive a
devastating Civil War. Today there are 64 stars on the flag and America is a
Superpower rivaled only by the Russian Empire and the up and coming
Republic of India.

Given the American thirst for conquest and territorial aggrandizement, I have a hard time seeing an independent Quebec.  What possible reason would there be for them not to conquer Quebec?

You might as well make a map where Hitler didn't attack the Soviets.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

The founders would have found it politically problematic to absorb all those French Catholics to put it lightly.

These founders had no problem absorbing the rest of New France.  And there really weren't very many French Catholics in Quebec.  They had a great deal of experience with absorbing them.

Conquest was the American priority at the time.

The rest of New France was virtually unpopulated aside from the natives, while there was probably close to 100k French in Quebec by now.

There's no justification for giving Baffin Island to Quebec.  It was British by right of exploration, but only in the 19th century.

hell, in your alt-history, why does America gets Rupertsland in the first place?  Again absent confederation there's no reason Quebec would gain any part of the former HBC territory.

So why would an expansionistic America conquer all of Canada, but leave other British possessions like the Bahamas alone? Especially when they have already conquered Puerto Rico and Cuba.

Small version of a map I created with CampaignCartographer for the Lite Challenge on Cartographer's Guild. Still need to apply effects, filters etc. to make it look "old".

With the collapse of the British position in eastern Canada you think that Rupertsland would have been able to hang on indefinitely in the face of ever increasing American settlement?
The logistics of defending the territory would be quite difficult, I would expect the land to be sold eventually.

Zanza, America's never shown any interest in the Bahamas. Our focus historically has been on Cuba, Puerto Rico is just a bonus that comes with war with Spain.

Cool, is this based in a post nuclear holocaust world?

Yes, it's a rendition of the town I grew up in, plus a few landmarks.

Doubtful.  There were only about 60,000 at the time of the conquest, and the French colonies in Canada grew much more slowly than the British colonies further south.  And that 60,000 was scattered through an area that wasn't all that much smaller than British North America.

The Americans, on the other hand, spawned like blowflies.  They had easily absorbed 7,000 Acadians half a century earlier, and would gobble up the remaining thousands of French Catholics in Louisiana over the next half-century.  And given their aggressiveness, xenophobia and thirst for conquest, there's no reason to believe that they wouldn't absorb the Quebecois either.

70,000 IIRC and they were concentrated in settlements along the Saint Lawrence. As for the rest of your post
