From your mouth to God's ear.

Yeah it feels all too relevant here.
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

With winter over and terror bombing of Ukrainian energy infrastructure thus having reduced prospects, Putin makes Trump commit to a cease fire on such strikes to save his ailing oil refineries.

Zoupa

putin and trump had a chummy 3 hour call today apparently. They decided to stop strikes against infrastructure targets.

putin played trump like a fiddle again, considering Ukraine has been hitting refineries and russia has been hitting power plants. Of course the russians want it to stop. With spring approaching, it's much less fun to think of Ukrainians freezing.

Meanwhile Ukraine has withdrawn from Kursk pretty thoroughly, but there is a nuance:

Lol. Get wrecked losers.

Putin also struck power infrastructure shortly after the talk and the 'decision' not to. Trump = idiot.

Great job at negotiating, Donald!

I think I prefer Art Garfunkel to Art of the deal by now.

What else can you just hand over to Russia? Norway? Finland? The Baltic states? A great deal on almost perfect replicas of some golden eggs?

Norgy

In any case, we come to the fight with bigly amazing beautiful experience from previous wars. Unlike the fucking Swedes.

The Brain

A few days old, but on the "F-35 kill switch" thing:

Quote"There is no kill switch," the Joint Program Office (JPO) for the F-35 program said in a statement. "The program operates under well-established agreements that ensure all F-35 operators have the necessary capabilities to sustain and operate their aircraft effectively. The strength of the F-35 program lies in its global partnership, and we remain committed to providing all users with the full functionality and support they require."

https://breakingdefense.com/2025/03/no-theres-no-kill-switch-pentagon-tries-to-reassure-international-f-35-partners/

If the statement exists and is quoted in a non-misleading manner, then foreign F-35 users are likely to have a problem. They're saying that there is no kill switch, BUT that operation relies on agreements being honored, which we these days have to assume they won't be. I don't know if the statement was meant as a threat or not, but that's certainly how it reads. "We remain committed" is what organizations say when they are at least considering not being committed, and not unusually already have decided to end commitment.
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

It's a bit worse than that. What Lockheed Martin is really saying is that the whole program depends on everybody working in conjunction with the United States.

And if nations don't work in conjunction with the United States, then say goodbye to the software updates that will be necessary to keep your fleet of jets in the air.

Back in the good old days, you know a few months ago, this would've been a concern noted in the margins that everybody ignored.

But now it's a reason for not buying the product.

What I read in all this is "You're an idiot to think there's a literal button we press to turn off all F35s making them drop out of the air.
In reality we just stop providing the maintainance and codes, stopping them flying in the first place"

So, like everyone else's planes?  All planes need spare parts, the Iranians had this problem after their revolution.  Couldn't get parts for their planes.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Yes, that's why you buy planes from a reliable party and not the backstabbing USA.
Getting ready to make IEDs against American Occupation Forces.

"But I didn't vote for him"; they cried.

Rafale or Grippen. I think the Koreans are working on one.

You think the Iraqi and the Libyans got spare parts for their planes when France was attacking them?

Aren't Rafael and Gripen of similar capability as the Eurofighter Typhoon? We can make more of those too.
