Maybe only local stations broadcast Take Me Out, which is why I've never heard it at another park.

Barrister

Well that was less than encouraging.

Agree on God Bless America - sing it if you want, but why broadcast it?

Every ballpark sings that, it's just rarely televised.  WEBN used to always televise it because Harry Caray led the song but I can't think of other instances where it has been televised.

And in Cincy they say "root, root root for the Redlegs..."  I sing "Cardinals" to mess with their mojo :menace:

And the God Bless America thing needs to be retired.  I understand why it started the year of and following 9/11, but we already have the national anthem.  But people at the games seem to like it, so I guess give them what they want.

Admiral Yi

Do all ballparks bring in guests to sing it too?

Ed Anger

All you godless communists need to be reported to the Feds.

Those CGI player names on the field have to go.  :yucky:

Not every ballpark.  :P  Camden Yards sings "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" during its 7th inning stretch.

I've always wanted to catch a game there.  After reading that, not so much anymore.

:P  It's a tradition, used to be Edward Bennett Williams' favorite song, so they played it for years when the team would take the field for the first inning.  Peter Asbestos brought it back a few years ago for the 7th inning stretch.

Well this game is a little more interesting.

How long have they been doing that?  I have zero memory of it.

Yeah, well now comes the hard part :contract:

I was hoping the Cards would win just one game in San Fran, to give them a shot to win the last two at home.  That didn't happen.

They played it until the early 80s when EBW died, and it disappeared when Jacobs the Hateful Jew bought the team, and then Angelos brought it back--maybe the late 90s? Early 2000s?
