The only American celebrity I ever met was James Duval.

But you're bound to have met Topol.   :bowler:*

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Yesterday, my dad was telling me about how when he was a bar tender he served Al Hrabosky and bunch of other Cardinals (and some Cubs) who came in late.  The manager kept the place open just for those guys, who proceed to get smashed.  He said they drove though a chain in the parking lot on the way out.  The next day, the Left Fielder for the Cards made 3 errors. :P

Dukakis is a good dude.  He was a professor at Northeastern when I was there working on my PhD.  One of my friends in the program had Dukakis as his advisor.  Years later, I used to see him fairly often when I worked at BIDMC because he was good friends with the then-CEO of the medical center.  Very unassuming guy... in fact, I also saw him a few times at South Station getting on and off Amtrak trains, always by himself.  I guess he felt obligated to travel via Amtrak when possible due to his role with the organization, but I still thought it was pretty cool.

You failed that PhD, right?

I understood that he stopped trying, rather than failed.
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish, I wish he'd go away...

Yeah, I withdrew after a year.  I was working full time and going to school full time and enjoyed working way more than going to school.  No regrets. :)
