Good grief the new series of Doctor Who is pretty dire, couldn't even be arsed to watch it on 'fast forward'.

Yeah it  really was terrible.
Its weird because isn't a first or second doctor wild west episode considered one of the worst of the earlier doctor who episodes?
Next one looks fun though.

The first or second doctors were corny by intent, and didn't try for the gravitas that the latest series do.  I can see why it would get panned today.

I saw the pilot.  I do get the impression they are going for some sort of no-tech utopian look to it. Which will last until someone needs a tetanus shot or the first bad winter without antibiotics.

I found the concept of SCA nerds being a threat to anyone absurd.  It's like considering people who play paintball once a month experts on modern infantry combat.  It didn't help that the whole thing was just so dreadfully written.

And I have somewhat higher respect for SCA types, as I would peg them closer to Civil War re-enactors, and not the "Fireball!  20 points of damage! ZOMG saving throw!" LARP'ing nerds.  Mainly because SCA fighters actually hit each other at full tilt.

And no, I am not SCA at all...but my brother is.
