Deadwood is probably the best writing on the American West, ever.

Yep. It's some of the best writing on TV, ever.

It's one of the only TV series that I think really does compare to a novel. It's beautifully acted and looks wonderful. But the real star is the writing and the language which is just brilliant and almost dense if you know what I mean.

Steven Soderbergh has edited down 2001 A Space odyssey to 110 minutes or so. I'd like to see what he cut, but can't be arsed to watch it again (I watched the full Kubrick version just two weeks ago--for the umpteenth time)
