Quote from: Oexmelin on January 28, 2017, 10:59:55 PMI am just astonished at Congress. I knew American political institutions were not in great shape, but not that they were sick to that extent.

it doesn't matter, so that's probably why nobody has made a fuss

How many times has that been echoed through history, until it's too late.

  You sure wish it didn't matter, don't you?

I think it's a good think, since it almost certainly advanced the timeline for Trump's impeachment.

Quote from: CountDeMoney on January 28, 2017, 10:49:36 PMThis is not at all surprising.  What is surprising is the surprise people are displaying when he does what he said he was going to do.

I am with you there. I am just astonished at Congress. I knew American political institutions were not in great shape, but not that they were sick to that extent.
It's not the institutions that are sick, it's the people.  When half the country wants to go fascist, whether they realize that or not, no institution can remain healthy.

I said before checks & balances would mean nothing if Republicans won the Congress.  These people have no spine.

But I still don't get all this worry.  I know from a credible source right here that Trump is not that interested in governing, he will leave it in more capable hands and any damage done would be very limited.

It will happen.  Any time now.  Just like his campaign imploding.

Indeed, he was merely a fascist running for the Presidency.

Actually, he did.  He laid it all out there, and it all made just enough knuckdragging mouthbreathers in Dumbfuckistan feel good.

I went to the Boston airport protest. The police just stood by and watched, despite the location. The organizers didn't really have the vocabulary to deal with the situation--they just broke out a bunch of old, pro-immigrant chants, switching into Spanish at times, which was quite inapposite. The moment when the news about the hold broke was electric, though.

I'm astonished that he can simply deny green card holders entry at will.

I'm reasonably sure that won't hold up in court, though I don't really know all that much about immigration law.
