I really can't help but be very pessimistic about this. Corbyn has been completely smeared into a massive threat to the country that only the tories can save us from. Vast numbers of exactly the sort of people who stand to suffer the most from a tory majority have come out in support of the Conservatives.
I was doing one interview just a few days ago... A woman mentioned how she'd had all sorts of trouble with universal credit and not getting any money for a while, getting letters from her landlord, etc.... But... Despite this she said it had got back to normal now but if labour got in it would all change again. Really sounded like she was going to vote for the people who caused her such suffering just because she felt the damage was done and any attempts to fix it were futile and likely to cause harm.
I doubt she was alone.
And this was on a completely apolitical topic that it came up.

Guess the French were right all along.  British people suck.
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

I thought that with the Tories, Brexit Party, and DUP splitting up the 50% who voted Brexit, and the rest splitting up the Remain vote, the Tories were bound to come out on top.

You know...if the Exit poll is right about England and Wales but wrong about Scotland given how marginal the seats are there and how the Unionist tactical vote came together last time...we could actually be looking at a majority closer to 100...

...no, I still don't believe that exit poll, no matter how accurate they have been in the past; I genuinely have no hat to eat though...

And the Labour civil war already looks like it's starting.

Why do Newcastle and Sunderland race to be first?

Edit: Also if this holds it'll be the worst Labour result since 1935 :weep:

All for the best, I think.  A brutal defeat for Labour is just the shock needed to bring them back to the world of reality.  A big majority for the Tories will leave no excuses for Boris when he botches Brexit and goes back to being Boris again.

I have no idea what he'll do.

It could be anything from wanting a "skinny" deal to actually, ultimately going for a very soft Brexit.

If this is true it's a very freeing majority.

Sadly, I suspect it is a case where I would, grudgingly, partly, agree with Tyr - they are trying to show Britain/England that the country is more than London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Edinburgh/Scotland for at least 5 minutes.

I can't help but be pessimistic there either. The Tories have gone beyond reality lately. I just can't see them coming back down to a sensible brexit. They're going to push for something horrid.

Quote from a poster on UK polling report -

QuoteA man who twice won as a Tory in a Labour city has now won as a Leaver in what I think is currently a Remain country. (Grudging) respect.

A sad day for the Liberal Democrats...but I guess no more than most election days.

I mean it not like everybody did not tell Labour in 2015 that most people in the UK hate Jeremy Corbyn.
