Out of curiosity, I checked and the cover is from the November 1915 issue. The US wasn't even at war by then.

This one from 1916 is a bit... bizarre :D

Well, at least it was legal.  Though the elephant could have probably used a better lawyer.

Quality public broadcasting - a brief history of female pubic hair fashion through time (including a few NSFW pictures): https://www.dr.dk/p3/full-bush-eller-helt-glat-saadan-har-synet-paa-koensbehaaring-aendret-sig-gennem-tiden

It is, of course, in Danish but google translate does a fine job if you want to read the article.

I knew what a merkin was before reading the article.  :smarty:

But that was only because I was a fan of Dr. Strangelove, in which the president was named Merkin Muffley and I wondered wtf.
The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.   -G'Kar

I knew what a Merkin was purely because on some message board or other I used to frequent, someone used 'merkins as slang for Americans and a big kerfuffle of board drama and hurt feelings ensued. And, of course, that required everyone to be educated about what merkins are  ... though this is the first time I've seen a picture of one.

I did not know about President Merkin Muffley in Dr. Strangelove

Isn't that quite high for a message board?

I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

And the vast majority of the posts are probably made but the top 15 to 20 percent of those 248 members. Wonder how many actual active posters we have. 30?
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

And in our Top 5, one is barely active anymore (CdM), one likely dearly departed (Ed), and then of course garbon.  :P
