I think I have a couple German Marks in my desk drawer.

One of them is from 1914 though:

So probably no longer legal tender.

Reminds me that I was reading a book on the Mongols and the author included a picture of a Yuan dynasty banknote issued by the government of Kubalai Khan.

My first instinctive thought was "I wonder if some Mono type kept that in the family, just in case the Mongols returned and he could cash it in"  ;)

My second thought was "I am spending too much time on Languish ... "

[Then I looked it up and found that it was most probably a modern printing off the ancient printing block ...

I never buy souvenirs, but I keep a coin or two and the smallest denomination banknote from each country I travel to.

If it was authentic, it would be worth way more than the face value.

I think my Spanish pesos, German marks and French francs are all coins but I know I have some paper lira.

Well, sure. All one had to do was keep this piece of paper since 1287, and you'd be in the money.  ;)

And part of the hooker you last saw there.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I still have a 5 pound note, 150 Czech koruna, and 200 forints in my wallet for no good reason.  Oh and 5 euro and 2 reais that I'd forgotten about.

Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

I think my wallet can survive an extra six foreign bank notes (two separate korunas).

I have a few hundred in Saddam Hussein Iraqi money, not worth the paper they were printed on.

I also have some coins and notes from every country I have visited. US money is the only one I can't hold on to.

What did Bowie do at your age?

Moved to Mexico, gained Spanish citizenship, married and became a land speculator.
