Of course these days I'm trying to learn two-year-old-ese.

"Twinsheen?  Honey - any idea what he's trying to say?"

What was his first sentence?

:hmm:

He does lots of two word phrases - such as "hi daddy", "wheres Roscoe" (our dog), "my bike".  He told a boy (8 yo?) who he was following around the playground "nice hat".  I can't think of any longer sentences than that though.

For those of you following the "saga" of Timmy and his new bed, I mentioned how at first he would just hollar for "mommy" to come and pick him up out of his bed.  Then he would sneak out of his bed in the morning, but race back in when we came in the morning.

Sunday morning, I go to get him and I find him out of bed, with the light turned on, playing with toy trains.

And this morning he finally did it.  My wife was getting some toast ready before getting him when he comes peaking around the corner, out of his room.

My bad, I just assumed he'd made a sentence already somehow. Sounds like his first one is comming soon!  :)

Carl's was "Daddy, open the presents!" - Christmas day.

My mother says mine was in the old Dominion store, watching the rotisserie: "Many chickens go 'round and 'round". Only when reading Go Dogs Go to Carl did I realize where that came from ...  :D

I'm thinking about learning French.  I butcher the names so badly.

I keep trying, and I realize that at my age I waited way too long.

Argh, Tommy has never done that.  As soon as he wakes up (assuming he's up before me, which for whatever reason he only likes to get up early during the weekend) he's hanging on the edge of our bed asking for his chocolate milk.  When we get downstairs he escalates his demands: to watch Spongebob and for pancakes (or whatever) to be delivered to him immediately.

He was pretty funny though on the first night we took one of the sides off his crib & he could suddenly get out of his bed whenever he wanted.  He had this exciting new freedom but couldn't figure out what to do with it, so he kept running from his bed to the hallway and back.  He probably didn't settle down & actually fall asleep until close to 2:00am that night.

I've used that line with my wife in discussing what to do with a tantrum.

Derspicey - I don't think it'll be long at all before Timmy does the same thing.

my first sentence was "don't want to play with you" with one of my cousins. I had anti-social tendencies even then

I can stand my ground with Tommy, and he knows it.  The wife, not so much.  I have a feeling the opposite may be true when Lola gets a little older

I'm thinking about learning Russian.  Doesn't seem like a terribly difficult language to learn if I can memorize the damned alphabet.

The alphabet's not so hard.  In my attempt to learn Ukrainian the alphabet was the least of the problems.
no kidding. I learmed the alphabet in like one day. I can still only speak about three semtences in Russian.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
