My Great Great Grandfather was governor of Virginia in the 1850s

Please don't tell me it was Henry Wise.  Please.

Best damn general in the whole Confederate Army.  He single handedly shortened the war by a few years.
I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

Now I have to permaban you for your genetic complicity regarding the illegal and unconstitutional trial and execution of John Brown.  You're off my Kwanzaa card list.  Forever.

That's ok, we have worse in the family - lawyers, Anglican Bishops, publishers (my grandfather owned William Morrow).  So my family is nothing but a nest of scum and villainy.

Then again, you may have distant relatives in Brazil.

Hell, there is a whole black branch of the family from plantation days, I am told.  We are multi-cultural.

Pretty sure he has said alcohol is bad in the past :hmm:

Hm? I've never said any such thing. I think alcohol is a fine and established part of the western tradition, and used in moderation contributes to an evening.

I have a much less charitable view of other mind-altering substances, and have avoided them with a prudish determination, but alcohol is fine. Civilized countries and people have long sanctioned it.

That said, I can certainly see why it was imagined I do not like it- it is more social than I generally am, and can lead to unacceptable loudness. I much, much prefer tea, but I could never convince my friends of the value of gentle tea times.
It can't be helped...We'll have to use 'that'

I just realized that my version has a shortcoming.  I forgot to capitalize the "origin".  If you're going to go with mine, make sure to fix that typo.

Wow, 6 generations of daughters!

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/05/six-generations-of-daughters-from-baby-to-111-year-old-great-great-great-grandmother/

A gal I work with is in the middle of 5 living generations of women in her family.  Pretty weird for someone who herself has grandkids to also talk about going to see her own granny.
