Because Hong Kong always has a shortage of skilled workers?

Not just Hong Kong, but China as well.  A lot of HK accountants actually work on the Mainland.  Basically the Big 4 in Hong Kong are hiring everybody in sight, because there is exponential growth in China.

I don't see how a lack of workers is a good thing.

Drives wages up.

And keeps unemployment low.

Good for the individual, maybe not so much for society as a whole.

What sort of small plant can handle somewhat erratic watering and at most indirect light while not looking like some shitty weed that needs to be poisoned to death?  Any ideas?  I want to find a use for my former ashtray (before it became my ashtray, a doomed bonsai tree lived/suffered in it), since the whole quitting smoking thing appears to have finally....stuck.  Or at least it has for a week now with only the occasional murderous rage and/or extremely intense craving for just one more.  Like right now, for example.  Heh.

Edit:  It's a bowl about 6" across and 2" deep.

If you can find a small one, you can keep one of these stunted by keeping it in a small container.  Plant droops when it needs water and then within a few hours of watering perks ups.

edit: nevermind, i think you'd like need at least 3-4 inches of depth.

It means there is a lack of people to perform that function.  Presumably they wouldn't grab construction workers off the street to perform that function.

Doh.

Edit:  I wonder if one of these things could survive in the little bowl: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sansevieria_trifasciata  Kind of nice looking, I guess.  Or some of those aloe plants look okay, and also like they could survive an a-bomb.

No.  But they'll hire every single business and economics graduate into the Big four every year, regardless of their grades, experience, and connection :contract:

The point is, it is far easier to find a job in Hong Kong than in Canada or the US :contract:

garbon

Sure but then you have to live in a box in Hong Kong.
