Kinda feel that if they were celebrating the murder of the gay people you wouldn't be this sanguine.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I see what you did there Raz with your favourite fap material.
Conflating the initial post 7th October Pro Palestinian demos, where a "ha yes take that Israel!" attitude can be somewhat more excused, with those of a few days later when the atrocities became widely known and confirmed.

Also conflating the scummiest people at such rallies with anyone near them.

Isn't that the default Republican position?

The Minsky Moment

I don't have a huge issue with Bernie Sanders style Euro socialism, but when a candidate proposes state collectivization of agriculture, it poses a problem well beyond mere clashes with the Dem "establishment." Add that to a penchant of condemning America as the fount of all evil, while cozying up to every horrid dictatorial regime in sight, from Putin to Casto to Xi.

The left in Ameria may need enthusiasm and youth and fresh faces and ideas. But it doesn't need a left-wing version of MAGA.
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

Republicans must be really conflicted about the all-Muslim town government in Hamtramck, Michigan, banning pride flags on public buildings.

I've never seen a Republican parade celebrating the murder of gay people.

Really?  Who celebrates a massacre?  They knew about the atrocities, the speakers were talking about them.  They were gloating about how those Israeli hipsters at the Nova musical festival got it. How bad do they have to be before you condemn them?  The scummiest people just won the Democratic nomination.  Just because they left-coded doesn't mean they are good people.

That's the tragedy of the left.  You either choose someone old and ineffectual, or someone full of energy who wants to do incredibly stupid things.  Even if you're willing to accept the stupid for the sake of not having the right in power, you have to think pragmatically and ask yourself whether that helps that goal or hurts it.  The Reddit left may believe the theory that pharmacies have all their stuff behind the glass because evil capitalism, but people outside of the bubble will connect lack of enforcement of shoplifting laws to the glass displays.

People certainly do excuse it, as this thread shows, but I don't think any decent person should.  The fact that Israeli civilians were slaughtered wholesale was already well-known while the attack was still in progress.

Not what I've heard.
A lot of stuff was flying around at the time, versions with purely military targets being hit, versions where far more civilians were slaughtered than there were.
I can understand how someone could take an initial kneejerk position that any talk of atrocities was anti-Palestinian propaganda. Its still dumb of course. But not quite in the same league as someone a few days later fully understanding the facts cheering for the murders.
You do see the amount of celebration clearly drops off as the truth of things becomes clear.
There are levels of scummy behaviour.

I don't think it's that bad.  Talarico is young, Rob Sand in Iowa is young, Shapiro, Whitmer and Ossoff are youngish, Wes Moore is young, I'm sure I'm missing many others.  The Democratic Party bench looks stronger to me than it has in a long while; it's just the top leadership that kind of sucks.

I was going to make a comment about Whitmer being young but then I remembered this is the Democratic partner we are talking about...:weep:

Whitmer isn't young, she is just a normal and acceptable age for a politician to be -_-

Anyway we need the Democrats to be giving people policies to address the problems we are having. If the older leaders don't well...they might not like who does.
