Fair - and I definitely have more of an issue with say Frum or Kristol.

It's possibly also a mixed feeling becase it's one I recognise myself from a supporter of liberal interventionism and a Blairite ultra. But a lot of them don't feel particularly reflective on the connection between then (and their role in it whether in the Administration, AEI, Atlantic/commentariat etc) and now.

Some passengers got of board before it was confirmed they got it.
Apparently, they contracted the virus before coming on board.

Now it's a flight attendant from KLM with mild symptoms.

Pandemic, round 2?  We were all watching the bird flu, and this is coming from the side?

Hanta pops up once in a while, and has for decades. There's a few variants and I think the new world one is more deadly.

Wait until the media finds out the plague is still around. Should provide a week or two of news coverage. Gotta feed the 24 hour news cycle.

I listen to Frum's podcast, and yeah - he has zero reflexivity about how his views, and his actions, might have paved the way to where we are now.

I couldn't help but laugh out loud when, in one of those, he complained about the smugness of left wing people giving him advice.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck sued by Miami police for allegedly depicting them as 'dirty' in Netflix film

That is going to be very interesting.

It'll never go to trial, obviously.  It's going to be settled or abandoned before this.
But discovery would be fun.

From what I know, the movie is inspired from a 1980s event in Miami, Florida, a drug bust gone wrong.  It is transposed in modern time.  Dirty cops involved.

Of course, it's a different USA today, but still.  It's a movie that does not allege to portray real events, afaik.

It's never pop up in Ontario though, unless I'm mistaken.

Third person in Ontario in isolation due to hantavirus is in Peel Region

Only 2 cases, really as the first 2 were in the same household.

Nothing worrying for now, but it still feels like slow walking into 2019/2020.

Google, so you know, not exactly reliable:

"Since 1989, only 109 cases were reported in all of Canada by 2015, with most concentrated in BC, Manitoba, and Quebec."

assuming that's accurate that's an average of roughly 4 cases a year. So 2026 is right on target.

*edit* Further googling says this is the first case in Ontario, but deer mice in Algonquin Park are carriers.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

Applying for the UK ETA was easy and convenient. The app reads the chip in your passport and you get an approval within minutes of submitting the application.

It has landed in the US.  People are confined.  And obviously, there's not enough room for them in one secure facility, because there's 18 of them.

I'm not in a trusting mood when it comes to the US rn.

Neither am I in toilet paper stocking mode.
