Quote from: Josquius on May 28, 2025, 01:56:50 AMThey've had the ok on taurus for a while now. I remember that was always bigged up as "if Germany just gives us that then bye bye kerch bridge"
Wonder what's keeping them with the bridge

Ukraine has not received any Taurus.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

They're all runty over there in the Eastern bloc.  Didn't feed people enough over there.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Germany is beginning its first permanent deployment since WW2 in Lithuania. By 2027, 4800 German troops are planned to be in Lithuania.

Though the men of Panzerbrigade 45 don't cut a very intimidating image.  :hmm:

2 years to deploy not even 5000 people (belgium couldn't even do that though). In the meantime the orcs deploy several 100k in the same amount.
surely people are rolling over the floor laughing somewhere

Valmy

Especially when "deployment" means putting people on a train for a few hours.

Those guys could probably go home on the weekends without much issue.

Zmiinyi defenders: "Russian warship, go fuck yourself."

I've seen people mocking this elsewhere.
Russia is going to be in no state to finish off Ukraine and move onto the Baltics next year.
This is fine.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. So don't count the russians out.

especially considering the ever more openly help from China
and there's big russian buildups.

The war isn't won, Russia isn't dead in the water

Is that really what "deployment" means in this case?  No bases, no infrastructure, no equipment, just put some guys on a train and send them over?

That's not what deployment was back in the day when I actually deployed.

Well I was making a joke about what a short train trip it was from Germany to the Baltic. Not making a statement about the facilities that might be built over there for them to operate from.

The last time the Germans sent troops to Lithuania it took them two days to deploy several thousand in Vilnius.
