There were a lot of protests for Gaza.

Matter of priorities I guess.
There were also lots of protests for the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Wall Street Journal - What green Card and Visa Holders need to know about recent deportations.

I've lived in the US for almost thirty years at this point and still hold a green card, I'm an LPR - a legal permanent resident. I have intended to naturalize and become a proper American for a long time, but its just sort of on the to-do list along with get some new teeth and learn French. Suddenly it's become a bit more pressing. I work with a friend who naturalized last year, two other LPR's and a Ukrainian couple who are TPS - refugees from the war.

Although I'm pretty spotless from an immigration standpoint I'd still just as soon not travel internationally for fear of being picked up by a zealot who found one of my posts on languish on my phone that reveals Teh Antisemitisms!!!111

I was in the UK 7 times last year (my brother had a stroke) and I have never previously given it any thought. Renew my Green Card every ten years faithfully, dont commit crimes, pay taxes and so on, but suddenly the goal posts seem to be moving.

I talked last night to a friend that teaches at Barnard, and he says that the students with the desire to lead protests (he calls them narcissistic, but I think that that may be a bit too strong) are still all tangled up in "Genocide Joe" thinking and didn't pay much attention to Trump's antics until the last few days, with the arrests of protestors for exercising free speech maybe waking them up to smell the coffee.

PSA for everybody, American border security can request that you provide them with your phone and they can plug it in and retrieve data from it, including all your posts on language so if you are at all concerned about the American authorities, learning that you've said anything critical about their dear leader you might want to keep your phone at home when crossing into the US.

These idiots still don't get that the more the Tesla brand is associated with Trump and his cronies, the less its target buyers want to buy it.

That is the look of desperate, self preservation. He clearly bought a bunch of stock after the election assuming nothing could go wrong.

Yes, not exactly reassuring; best get your citizenship before trum-pusk scraps the entire department.

We advised our UA colleague who's flying to NYC this weekend on this. She's pretty active on Telegram and other social media and not exactly a big fan of Russia/Trump (to put it mildly).

67,000 white South Africans have expressed interest in Trump's plan to give them refugee status

67 000 is quite a mercenary force.
Even if a quarter of them are able to fight for Trump, that's still a good number to quell unrest in the US during the coming months.

The Minsky Moment

Trump announced a deal with Paul Wiess, one the nation's most pre-eminent law firms.

In return for rescinding an executive order directing a "review" into Paul Weiss' security clearances (necessary to do national security related legal work) and government contracts, Paul Weiss agreed to cancel all DEI policies in hiring and pay $40 million in protection money in the form of free legal services for favored administration initiatives.

The country's top litigation firm folded without filing a single court pleading.

It's even worse than it sounds because most firms have associates do a certain amount of pro bono work.  Much of this involved defending indigent litigants in housing or benefits work, people accused of crimes, and asylum applicants. Under the Paul Weiss agreement much of this work will be shifted towards Muslim bashing ("combatting antisemitism) and further undermining the rule of law ("fairness in the justice system").
