As an aside, while looking at said numbers the DOW and SNP 500 has over doubled in 10 years, the NASDAQ has almost quadrupled. How does that even make sense?
My theory for a while has been that increasing wealth inequality feeds into an asset price inflation.  People who have money have too much money and they need to put it somewhere, there is only so much they can spend it on.

I can see trump getting quite vocal about this ICC arrest of Duterte, quite likely he'll interfer to try and stop it?

That is an interesting take - but a lot of that wealth goes into private equity investments rather than publicly traded stocks.  I think the better explanation is the tech bubble 2.0 for the Nasdaq while the SNP is a consequence of the fact that there is no other viable options for regular people with money to invest other than the public stock market. It is rare that people have an opportunity to invest in a private equity venture.

Doubling down on the Canadian aluminium & steel tariffs. To 50% now.

Americans, go out there & protest like this is the Vietnam war or we will all find ourselves in it.
Getting ready to make IEDs against American Occupation Forces.

"But I didn't vote for him"; they cried.

Japanese trade minister was visiting Washington to see if something could be done to prevent/lift tariffs. You can guess the outcome.

He is really hell bent on crashing the American and world's economy. I can't believe there isn't some huge pressure being applied by all major American economic actors onto the GOP and the people around the White House for the insanity to stop.

His tariff war is so absurd that it is making Liz Truss' collapse of the pound looks better. edit: Even more since it's coupled with the gutting of the Federal Government. It's going to become the most perfect economic shitstorm.

Fun fact, the Americans produce about 16% of the aluminium they use. The rest comes from Quebec (mainly) and BC.

American manufacturers are going to love paying that tax.

Edit: Trump is right about one thing, this will be noted in history books as the dismantling of American dominance for years to come.

The Minsky Moment

It's even more absurd than it looks, because he lacks the statutory and constitutional authority to impose the tariffs.  Which means that unless the courts rescue him with a massive expansion of Presidential power at the expense of Congress, after all the economic damage is done from the tariffs, the importers paying them will be entitled to a refund from the US Treasury.

Do you think he or his lickspittles in the cabinet care?

a PSA for our American friends, if you are coming north of the border, either pretend to be Canadian or start every conversation with something like, "I am not MAGA".  Also, best to not wear anything red on your head.

Makes sense that that's part of it. Doesn't seem sustainable.
