You're citing a poll showing decreased support from Rs for Musk's influence in Trump's administration. How's that doing anything about anything?

The man is sieg heiling and taking all your private data. Why are americans so passive?

Admiral Yi

What would you like me to do?

This.

@Zoupa - Americans may be stupid but I'm not sure how an unelected person meddling in ways that the majority of Americans dislike (as the polling wasn't only Republicans) is a good example of that.

Seems like the American revolutionaries took up arms against their fellow British for less.
Maybe ask: what would they do?
I've got the suspicion they'd go 'washington-maidan', to use a modern reference.
But that's of course not something to ve done solo, though one has to start somewhere

Admiral Yi

So you want me to buy a gun and start shooting people?

dist

My answer to Yi's question would be: call your representantives in Congress (even more if they are Republicans); join protests; find ways to actively support the pushback; don't get demobilized.

You are in front of a coup and the response should be proportional. I would wager that the civil response we saw in South Korea last december should be the blueprint, the threat is that existential, as well as daily mass protests like the cacerolazo that have happened throughout history.

Admiral Yi

That's what I'm doing.  I'm asking Languishites what the hell "actively supporting the pushback" means.

Don't be obtuse. Euromaidan wasn't about shooting people. Neither are the protests in Georgia or Slovakia,  both against authorianism.
Just like the revolutionaries didn't start shooting straight away either.

You take to the streets en masse, use that mass to block the doge-sturmabteilung from entering or leaving their targets.
But again: it's easier said than done

I know I was doing it as well with my "ignore news" desire, but all "what can I do?!" vibe is very Hungary-like, this is  exactly how a Putinist/Orbanist regime is built. Attrite people into disgust and passivity, so the small minority of idiots forming their core support is enough to dominate everything.

Yeah I wasn't that big a fan of their look to begin with but I would never drive one now.

crazy canuck

I wonder if they said that ironically, knowing that he's in a conflict of interest to determine if he's in a conflict of interest. Or, I like you suspect , they're just counting on Americans being really, really dumb/they themselves are just really, really dumb.
