Also misogynist.

Yes.

And not relevant to this particular example - but it can be so, so racist also.

Truly a microcosm of the average person.
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".

Quote from: Grey Fox on December 04, 2024, 03:23:49 PMBluesky is right there.

Twitter is incredibly toxic - but it still (mostly) has a diversity of opinions - even if incredibly toxic opinions are allowed to be shared.

From what I have heard Bluesky is nothing more than a left-wing echo chamber.

Yes but it's also still untoxic towards subjects that aren't political in nature.

I'm a leftist and I like my echo chamber of ideas but it's also nice to be in a place where I can read about Ukraine news or Georgia without having to wade through the pro-Russian bots and proto-NeoNazis of X. Plus, there if you post a picture congratulating yourself on earning a PHD the jokes will be funny instead of hateful.

Also, both of you are no longer middle aged. That's 40. That's how old I am.

60 is the new 40. :P
I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

Checked BlueHair out quite a while back but yeah the overall impression was North American tumblerinas blocking and reporting each other interspersed with hardcore tranny porn and relentless e-begging. :hmm:

Dunno maybe it has improved over the last 6 months.

What's YOUR problem with Twitter anyhow?

YOu know, whenever I see someone talking about "blue hair" I immediately think of old ladies.

Same! I immediately think of Mrs Slocombe and little old ladies with a blue rinse and very fixed hair.

But I feel like that might just be a fashion from my childhood (my nan definitely went through a blue rinse phase) now and it's not really a thing anymore? :hmm:

White hair tended to appear yellowish at a time when a lot of people smoked. A blue rinse was often able to make that white hair look whiter, or greyer, rather than unsightly yellow. Dyes were stronger then, and some of lesser quality left your hair decidedly bluer than greyer.

It's much better than X, at least for me.

The accounts I follow on twitter/X are mostly music, sports, and economics (wonky) related.  The only political accounts are Institute of the Study of War for their detailed conflict updated and a couple people I know personally. The content for these on Bluesky is the exact same as on twitter/X. The only difference is the comments which I rarely read anyways.

I can't recall EVER seeing a useful or informative comment on twitter/X other than on tangotiger (a baseball stats guy) and at this point it is just a garbage dump of bots and vulgar trolls.  Bluesky OTOH does have some useful comments sometimes.  As I example, Michael Pettis recently sent out a link to an article he wrote on trade.  On Bluesky someone wrote with a detailed question about his treatment of savings rates in the article. On twitter/X in the comments to that same post I am seeing a spam post about Bitcoin and a picture of Trump with Macron saying: '"They're eating the frogs"

I guess if you have a strong sociological interest in knowing what stupid memes the most ill-informed MAGA bros are playing with these days, or if you are in counter-intelligence and tracking foreign bot manipulation, X is superior.  Otherwise, bluesky is better.
The purpose of studying economics is not to acquire a set of ready-made answers to economic questions, but to learn how to avoid being deceived by economists.
