What are you talking about? Make what about him?

The Queen is unwell and under medical supervision, while members of the Royal Family are flying to Balmoral Castle.  Apparently even Harry.

Wow that came on fast. It must be pretty certain then.

For what's its worth I hope she somehow pulls through.

I do too.

But what makes you think it's bad is that they have not brought her to a hospital.

Palliative care - she's been in decline for some time, ever since October last year. I suspect she has some sort of terminal cancer.

Yeah, I suspect she has put her foot down and will not go into hospital for a few days extra life at the cost of her dignity. Lots of old folk feel that way.

Despite my anti-monarchist personal views, I will be sad to see QEII gone, she was an institution. Maybe with passing the Brits can finally purge the Huns off the throne and establish a Republic.

Still mad about being fired by Wilhelm II?

My namesake arguably had the last laugh, that decision in no small part helped stage the conditions that led to Wilhelm being the final Hohenzollern to sit a throne.

I guess we'll eventually find out how much information about her health was kept from us, I suspect quite a lot.

But her sudden decline over the last few days, might only be something like a urinary tract infection, which whilst dangerous in the extremely old, isn't terminal.  (I guess one can hope she pulls through or stages a recover)

Yeah, with a constitutional monarch I am not sure what the right balance is on personal medical privacy vs informing the nation. Like others, I have been fairly suspicious that something more serious than "personal mobility issues" are what has led to her withdrawing so much from the public eye. Some form of cancer (that she likely would not accept extremely aggressive treatment for, given the prognosis), isn't out of the possibility.

Because they have so zealously refused to give any information up to this point, the fact they are disclosing that she is so unwell is being treated as all but a confirmed imminent death. If that isn't the case, and this is just a bout of moderate ill health, I would say the messaging has been pretty shoddy to give this impression.

Agree on both counts (though I do like Charles and am looking forward to his coronation).

And lets face it she's the bloody queen.
She can have all the best doctors and everything delivered to her. Not like a stubborn normal person.

Technically the Kings of Romania lasted longer. :P

So how does it work? Do we have to pledge allegiance to our new leige and lord Charles?

Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Can some enterprising mod create a new thread?  This seems too important (and effects more of the world than just the UK) to leave it in the Brexit thread.
