Quote from: Jacob on May 23, 2022, 10:36:08 PMSo apparently Denmark 🇩🇰 beat Canada 🇨🇦 in world cup hockey qualifying group play.
:hmm: How does that make you feel?

Well for Canada, the quote is:
Quote"It is important for us to realize that every team is going to play their best against us," Canadian head coach Claude Julien said. "We may not have been as prepared as we should have been in the first period, and we fell behind 2-0 and had to play catch-up.

"In the third period, the Danes were playing desperate and were blocking shots and getting in shooting lanes because they wanted to win so badly. It is important for us to start taking that approach as well if we intend on being champions at the end of this tournament.

"We need a little more desperation from our group, which I know we have, and we will be fine."

If Canada somehow drops the game against France (which they have to and ought to win) then the story is the shocking Canadian collapse, and not about Denmark at all. For Denmark, on the other hand, it's the first time ever they've beaten Canada and pretty exciting.

I expect Canada to qualify and have a shot at gold. In the meantime, I'm happy for Denmark's greatest mens world cup hockey achievement, beating Canada this one time.

"Springsteen European Tour Dates" are some of my favorite words in the English language.

No England? WTF?

Josquius

It's like an inversion of the norm where a European tour is 10 cities in Britain plus Dublin and maybe Paris and/or Amsterdam.

I didn't expect he'll go on tour, like, ever again, would be good to see him live at least once.

celedhring

Hop on a boat to Amsterdam!

That said, I'll be surprised if UK dates are not added down the line. There is a blank week either side of his Dublin gigs.

He's not that old, he can still keep touring at a leisurely pace for a while.

He's 72. That's quite old for arena rock. Last time I saw him (2016) he was still in great shape, though. He carried the show and it was a blast.

I just don't want him to go the way of the Rolling Stones, their tours are a bit sad.

What kind of venues is he going to play at? Where is he playing in Barcelona?

Ok, maybe he can dial that down a bit for upcoming tours, then.

celedhring

Tbf he will sell them out without breaking a sweat.

I wish there were more Spanish dates so I don't have to compete with all the country for tickets.

The Larch

His drawing ability is out of the question, yeah.

I also see that the pace of the tour is somehow relaxed. No back to backs, even when playing two concerts in the same city, for instance. A couple of breaks in the middle of the tour (unless new dates are announced there). I guess that he knows his limits.

.

The Arena has terrible acoustics, I wouldn't go there for any concert.

I feel like we should have a mass shooting megathread, but we don't.

Mass school shooting in Texas.  Reports 14 children, 1 teacher, dead.
