Malthus

Watching a series called "Barry". It is a black comedy/drama about the eponymous character, who is a hit man - he goes to LA for a job and gets involved in an acting class. The conceit is that through this class he is sort of working out his mental and social problems, the things that led him to becoming a hit man in the first place.

I'm enjoying it a lot so far. One of the main characters, the teacher of the drama class, is played by Henry Winkler (who played "the Fonz" in the show Happy Days, a million years ago or so). He's excellent in this role.

Barry is great. I'm really looking forward to season 3.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

There is going to be a season 3?

Excellent. Did not know that.

They all pale next to Noho Hank.

My memeory and my strat-o-matic card set for 98 says otherwise.  Straw mashes right-handers; Raines has a great OBP vs lefties.
We have, accordingly, always had plenty of excellent lawyers, though we often had to do without even tolerable administrators, and seen destined to endure the inconvenience of hereafter doing without any constructive statesmen at all.

My GF is really into the Masked Singer.
I'm not a fan. Though I'll occasionally see it on and have a small curiosity about the reveal.
She's currently watching the American version. And I've noticed a big difference in quality vs the UK version.
In the UK version- "Oh its...um...." "I used to be the Education Secretary in the Blair Government" "Ohhhh OK, Yes, I knew that" or "I kind of know your face...?" "I used to play for Nottingham Forest? 8 caps and 1 goal for England?" "Riiiiiight".
Whilst in the US the calibre is such that it seems more in the ballpark of "TOM FUCKING HANKS!"

Yeah, the show is also a smash hit in Spain. I just don't get why, but I guess that if you find a clever way to repackage your usual talent shows it seems to always work with audiences.

In Spain they seem to always get over the hill TV celebs. People that were pretty famous years ago and thus are still recognizable, but cheap.

The Larch

The success of that show absolutely baffles me, I just don't see the point at all. I guess I'm just not their intended audience.

Yeah. I have never watched it. But I remember when it was released and there was the first reveal and it was former Home Secretary Alan Johnson and no-one really knew who he was (especially poor Ken Jeong):

Gups

Watched the first episode of the Ken Burns docu on Hemingway last night. As always with Burns, absolutely top notch and Hemingway is a superb character for a documentary. The archive photos are particularly well-chosen

First singer unmasked in the 1st season of the US version was Ninja.

The judges didn't know who he was.
Getting ready to make IEDs against American Occupation Forces.

"But I didn't vote for him"; they cried.

Neither do I. The "ninja" I know is a woman, singer in the go team.

For me Ninja is the singer from Die Antwoord.

If a ninja is famous I think they're doing something wrong.
