That's a well known false friend actually, one which was mentioned in English classes. Though I believe some French-speaking Canadians use it with the same meaning as the Anglos.

Going out a small sample here but a bunch of Swiss French people I know were unaware.

There was some guy giving a health and wellness talk at work, sleep was at the centre of it. He said an afternoon nap is natural and advisable. :hmm:
