I have a top floor flat that's warm and well-insulated so I can't see the boiler going on until the end of October at the earliest, despite having had a few frosty mornings.
Considering we had snow about 8 days ago, the answer is yes.
No, though I did pull out the sweat pants for a couple hours this morning(back in shorts now).
Had AC on yesterday evening.
I've set the thermostat to 20°C in the living room and it's switched the heating on now and then in the past weeks. But we only seem to dip under the 20°C daytime temperatures this week. And I turn on the heat in the bathroom on low level during the night.
Nothing worse in the morning than a cold bathroom.
I make up for hanging meat with the AC in the summer by not running the heat in winter. I like it chilly, and only use the gas fireplace to keep the front rooms warm, and I don't turn that on till after Halloween.
Switched it on for an hour or two about 3 times so far. We haven't had a cold day yet but there was some prolonged greary rain which seems better when you heat the place a little.
God no.
I had my AC on a little a few days ago, right now I still have an electric fan on.
Have to sleep with one on even- not so much out of it being too hot but its still too sticky.
When winter does come it will suck though. Lack of central heating, single glazing and no insulation plus poisnous kereosene heating, woo... <_<
Yes. :glare:
Unseasonably cool here right now. AC during the day, heat during the night.
The AC set at 68F did not kick in last night :(.
Sunday morning it was 10 here (-12c). Yes, I have had it on.
Not yet.
Yes. I live in a condo where the heating is switched on centrally (and you can then turned it down/off if you wish in your own flat) and it has been on for the last week or so. This has been a very cold late summer/early autumn so far.
Couple of days so far. 2 weeks & it'll be on permanently.
No, and likely won't need it until Dec/Jan. Even then it's more convenience than necessity.
Building has central heating. However, I've got the valves closed because the temperature rise in the afternoon gives me headaches.
My computer generates more than enough heat as it is.

I have central heating and no control over it. Used heat in my hotel rooms.
We had our first day of actual non-warm weather of the year yesterday. Still did not get cold enough inside the house to turn the heat on. Maybe another month.
OMG, it dropped below 100?
I've turned the heat on twice, much to Max's dismay. I'm sorry, but when the temp gets below 55F/12C, it's time to turn the silly thing on. I can add a sweater, slippers, and even a blanket, but I'm not sitting in my house with gloves on. <_<
That being said, I agree with him in that I hate the heat on at night. The air should be crisp and cold while you sleep. :Canuck:

Below 60F!!!111 OMG
People were going into hypothermia.
It's 49 degrees this morning. Got my Ravens Snuggie, plenty of K-cups and my cat. We are nice and toasty.

Like when the first cold snap hits here. The new students from the subcontinent of the US South often look like polar explorers in their jackets...then the REAL cold hits in December...
I want real cold now. :(
Yes. I've had to do it for the wife & kids. If it were me I'd let the inside temperature get down to 60 before I'd turn on the heat, but whatevs-- let the super-duper efficient heat pump do its thing. Actually puts out good heat. Much better than the one we had when I was a kid.
A few days we had to do the Cal thing of AC in the day and heat at night. Drove me crazy but I couldn't open windows to even things out due to fear of awakening my 4 year old's allergies.
Supposed to get down to 35 tonight so that's a good excuse for using the fireplace. I'm guessing I have enough firewood for the end of the year.

You should post a photo of that on a dating profile, your inbox will be full within minutes.
I had to look up K-cups. Glad to see it's not an excessively large bra size.

What, and get my profile mixed in with the rest of the shut-in cat old maids?
I thought the purpose was to separate yourself from the rest of the crowd.
Yep. Even broke out the coats this morning for the trip to pre-school.

Yeah. Both of my kids threw a shit fit over having to wear them. Tommy said his was "too new".
Not yet. I was reading/napping out in the backyard yesterday in shorts with my shirt off. This is the warmest and most dry Fall I can remember. Plan to do the same thing today.
Turned it on last night here in Mass. It had been dipping into the low-mid 60s indoors according the thermostat for too long. But lord we are going to be paying for it. :weep: Contrary to Brazen, this is a first floor apartment (of three) located directly over a huge unheated, poorly-insulated basement.

Yeah your profile is going to be with the dudes. Very few men post profiles of themselves with cats and snuggies.
I keep switching the heater off, and my housemates keep turning it on. This is what sweaters are for, guys.

I read some scientist article that stated that the temperature in the room for a good nights sleep should be around 15C or in other words significantly colder than most have.

I agree. Even with this cold weather, I sleep with my window open.

Screw that. That just makes it a million times harder to get up in the morning.

Sounds like you need a good beatin'.
Not really. Still with summer weather. Today it was 27C (81F). :)
I'm having a few days of vacation in a week and I hope I can still go to the beach in October. It would be a first.
Not yet. It's only rarely cold and me and all of my flatmates are of the 'put another jumper on' school. I won't have it on before October on principle, it'll be a few more weeks of consistent cold before I think it happens.
I also live on a top-floor, but it's an old Victorian tower and neither the roof nor the windows are insulated
Nope. Only drops to 52 tonight and is supposed to rebound into the 70s-80s by the weekend. Gonna be a bit before the heat is necessary, assuming it is at all (it wasn't last year).

All us drafty living people need to get on the DIY plastic-sheet window insulation. I did it a couple years, maybe '06 and '07, and I think it saved a lot. But it's a lot of work, especially if you're splitting the bill with a bunch of workshy genetically hardy and/or chronically ill types, who either way would rather bundle up than work or pay. <_<
I wish I had the $ for better insulation, it went down to 44-45 last night and with no ac/heat on this morning it was 64 inside the house. Nice for me but hard to get kids out of bed when it is cold inside, I had to turn on the heat.
Anyway, seems it went down quite a bit, I know the attic insulation we have is not enough. <_<
Daytime high of 9C today. I turned on the heat a couple of weeks ago (which was more challenging than I thought, since the pilot light had gone out).

Isn't it supposed to pay for itself?
I just got out my chisel and forced my window closed.. I really should invest in new windows.
I kind of wish they would turn the heating on already. A bit chilly at home.
I need to start programming the thermostats.
I think this thread is a good example of the Languish evolution. When I first became active here, 2004ish, there were "Who's Hotter?" polls and those Friday Night Fights.
Now we're at, "I think it's getting a bit nippy . . . should I turn on the heat yet?" :hmm:

About every evening since the last 2 weeks, I had the heating on. Before that, about once every 2-3 nights for the previous 2 weeks.
