I know if I was a kid, I'd want a toy dog that shits under the tree.
More coming as the season grinds into a commercial orgy of excess!

I can see how it would be useful in educating kids about poop scooping family pets, but the replay value does seem minimal.
Right now, Germans are looking to import the Scheiße dog.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323713104578137213975675602.html
QuoteAlready, Hasbro Inc.'s refreshed and tech-focused Furby, a doll many observers say has the best chance to be a breakout star this year, is selling out on several retail websites. Online, Wal-Mart has almost completely run out of stock, and several colors can't be purchased on Target's website. Toys "R" Us and Amazon.com Inc. appear better stocked for now, though more-popular colors on Amazon are selling above the list price.

I don't remember how the topic came up, but on Thanksgiving my kids (18 and 16.5) were talking about the horrors of the Furbys they used to have when they were small. I had no idea but apparently they hid them in their closets and the Furby in the Closet was a running joke/horror story between themselves for quite a while.

Okay, books are on the list now. She doesn't seem to like building blocks, at least not those jumbo-sized things that Tommy doesn't play with any more except for "making guns". She's not really into dolls yet but she does like stuffed animals.

I usually try to wait til a few days into December but since I had an empty house and plenty of time I put up the tree Saturday. Looked depressing without lights so I put lights on it as well. We've traditionally used those large round incandescent bulbs, but each year about a third of them seem to go bad. I had just enough to cover the tree this year. Will wait for the kids to be here before I put any ornaments on. And I already have some stuff wrapped & under the tree.
I can get so much shit done without kids around.

I remember buying Hungry Hungry Hippos for Tommy a couple years ago. I was happy I could get it for like $8 or whatever, but the thing fell apart after a couple weeks. The game I had as a kid lasted through many years of abuse.

Tommy's not a fan. I liked it when I was a kid, but then again when you were a kid in the 70s & 80s you were desperate for any morsel they threw you in terms of Christmas specials. I don't think it has aged very well.
