Dear Languish.
I started thinking after the last post I made here, an inane comment I regretted the moment I clicked Reply... Most of the times I post, it is just one line with the intention to be witty.
I hang around for the games forum, and the OT. At the same time I feel that most of the inner circle already know each other, and have an outside of the forum relation to each other. I have something of a block against typing long posts, and the days of EUOT when debates sucked me in, and made me contribute, are gone.
I'm considering taking a long break, devote some of my blog reading, forum surfing, news browsing time to quality gaming, and the rest to reading and running.
Come to think of it, I hope you aren't going to call this a purely attention whoring thread or blame me for being overly dramatic when quitting. I just want to know the point of it, that's all. What do you other non-inner circle people think Languish gives you?
Sincerely,
Johan

I think you're overestimating that. We only look like we have those kinds of relationships because we've known each other online for 8-9 years. Stick around long enough and we'll know you that well too. :)
It gives me intellectual stimulation. Perspectives I had not considered, facts I was not aware of, experiences I have not had.
Plus it's fun to shoot down misconceptions. Drop quick one-liners. Sometimes even the prison yard drama can be entertaining.

Hmmm, Yi might have a point.

Tell you the truth, Lucidor, I sometimes get that "outside looking in" feeling too, and I'm way more active than you are. But the forum can be entertaining and it's not like I have anything better to do.
Lucki, you need to stay here since you are still sane. Think of it as a test of manhood, will you prevail against the ceaseless onslaught of idiots here? Fight the good fight, then come see me in Wyoming and I will buy you some dark beer.
from one intruder to another, i think you're a good poster and help contribute to a diieimg(!11) forum. i wouldn't feel put off by how long the forum has existed and the relations some posters have developed with others. after all, with the way divorce rate is going these days, all the languish couples (neil-timmy, ide-korea, ed-pdh, cdm-cdm, etc) can only last so long
I only come because i enjoy watching cdm bitch slap folks;

it was interesting at first, and when he's not wrong it still a good thread, but when he gets caught the whole thread turns into a behemoth about how a ship isn't a ship or the semantics of the world allegation.
Lucidor is a good guy. I enjoy reading his posts, as infrequently as they are.
As for why I come to Languish, it's basically a place where I can, by internet standards, expect to find intelligent discussion on a variety of different topics. And seeing all the familiar personalities her is kind of reassuring in a world of constant change.

It's not easy to find a forum where the posters are intelligent and knowledgeable, and that's small enough and tight enough that you don't get lost in the sea of posters. Another unique thing is the multitude of nationalities represented.

Ditto. I usually don't have the attention span to contribute anything, so I happily leech from others' contributions.
Also, Languish is a place filled with people a lot of interests I share, yet I tend to disagree with most here on things like relgion, politics, etc. For some reason that keeps bringing me back.
I have yet to find anyone on the internet that matches my interests in Spartan latrines.

Flattery? You'll go far kid.
Haven't met any of the others. Attempted it in a couple of cases, but it always fell through; honestly, I'm not sure that that's a bad thing, though. I'm kind of a boring nerd offline, and at that, not even nerdy enough to get into the "cliques" like the wargaming people on here. As for why I stick around, this gives me a place to vent and read some other peoples' posts to remind myself that, while my head might be a scary place to be, it can't possibly be as bad as, say, Seedy's. :P

Tell you the truth, Lucidor, I sometimes get that "outside looking in" feeling too, and I'm way more active than you are. But the forum can be entertaining and it's not like I have anything better to do.
FU, Teach. Everyone likes you fine.
What? Peter Wiggin and Eddie Teach are the same people??????

That's it. Shit yeah, him and Camerus were cool dudes. I don't see why they had to change their names and confuse me for years on end.
Garbon drove by me at a high rate of speed. I estimate he was within a half mile.
It is retarded how people change their names.
I mean, you are not only wasting my brain power, but showing you are afraid to feces the consequences of your own posts.
ooooooooooooooo.
Feces?

Yeah, I'm definitely afraid of that.
Also, I dropped Captain Carrot because of the confusion with Ironfoundersson (who, I guess, never came over to the new board; also, never knowing whether "CC" was talking about me or Crazy Canuck).
My name changed because the board stopped permitting changes just as I started a week of celebrating famous Royal Navy battleships, hence I was stuck with Warspite.
So blame the admins. :p
