Inspired by Tim's glee at Canadians loosening their gun laws.
Yup, many a happy afternoon plinking tin cans up at the cottage.
Yes.
I'm not allowed. :(
I know a few people with shotguns, I've fired them a couple of times. Just for the hell of it. Meh.
Yes, I even took a course in pistol shooting in college. It was a ROTC course so we got to shoot silhouettes one week.
I'm a miserable shot which makes it hard to live in Detroit. I always have to drive when we do drive-bys. :(
Yup, mostly shotguns and mostly clay-pigeon shooting, including a rather wonderful day training with the UK Olympic shooting team where I managed to get both clays in the double-trap event :smoke:

Actual gun: M2 .50cal HMG

A 12 guage shotgun loaded with slug.
But I shot it into a TV set! :D
The only time I have ever fired a gun at something alive was when I was shooting at a deer with a M60.

I'm currently involved in the construction of a 380mm railway gun, which we hope to use to bombard Toronto when the time comes.
Yup, a hunting rifle with my uncle. Only shot at empty cans in my grandma's garden.
Of course not!

You are qualified to be a Stormtrooper. Congrats.
I never got to shoot it, but I got to see a 20mm Finnish AT rifle in action in New Mexico. I did get to shoot a Barrett there.
edit - I have also fired a .454 casul pistol as well, that was fun.
Yes; shotgun, rifle and handgun..........only at clay pigeons and targets though.

Yes, as part of my job and as recreation. I used to hunt and I have killed a dog (Pit Bull) during my job.
Yes. The jack knive armed Alphorn Militia uses assault rifles too.
Yeah, here's a list of what I've fired to the best of my recollection:
.22 bolt action rifles of various makes
.30-06 rifle
AR-15 (basically a version of the M-16 that fires semiautomatic only)
black powder muzzle-loader :bleeding:
SiG Mosquito .22 semiautomatic pistol
Glock 19 9mm semiautomatic pistol
Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm semiautomatic pistol

Oh yes! I forgot about my English Civil War musket. Had to get a shotgun and black powder licence for that ^_^
After the first volley and reload+second volley, I wanted to put a freaking bullet in my own head. :bleeding:
(but it was too awkward and heavy to lift to the side of my head :Embarrass: )
Yes. I've fired quite a few rifles from high powered rifles to shotguns and muzzle loaders, and some hand guns. Did a lot of shooting at clay target ranges, shotguns, trap and skeet. Also have hunted quite a bit, deer, ducks, upland birds. Started as a teenager, target shooting and hunting with family, father, uncles, etc. I don't do any hunting anymore though, and haven't done any target shooting in years. Just don't desire to really.

If you're shooting at a target you should fire a real gun.
I volunteered for militia training and fired a FN rifle and an SMG.

Depending on what you consider a "gun," either "no, but I've fired pellet guns," or "yes, but none of the above answers fit."
Nail guns probably don't count, so the machine in question would be a Remington "concrete fastener," which basically uses .22 cartridges with nails, and a muzzle-push safety like a nail gun's.

Water gun only.
My only options for firing a real gun are -
- join the police
- become a criminal. But these days it is rare even for criminals to have guns in Hong Kong. Almost all bank robberies involve fake bombs, not guns.
- pay millions to join the local gun club
- figure out a way to get a gun permit in the US/Canada.
I'm not a US citizen, so I assume that my chances of getting a permit there is about zero. I happen to have a Canadian passport, but I have no idea how difficult it is to get a gun permit in Canada. If not for languish I won't even think about this kind of thing.
Never have. In fact, I've never touched a gun, and can't even recall ever having seen a real one, other than in a police officer's holster.
Hopefully I'll never have cause to learn how to use one either.

I may be wrong...but if you stopped at a gun store in Alaska, they'd probably wouldn't even care if you're a US citizen. And you sure as hell don't need a permit.
Besides firing a .22 way way back in summer camp, only the M-16 at basic training.

If Anchorage actually had an indoor gun range, I'd probably have picked up a pistol by now.

How much does the cheapest shotgun cost? US$10k? US$15k? I have no idea.
You could probably pick one up for $500 or so.
A quick search seems to indicate that it is far easier than I think to get a gun permit in Canada. I need to attend some safety course, pass an exam, and pass a background check. The course seems to be only a 10 hour thing. Not sure how difficult the exam will be. If it involves shooting an apple on someone's head without hitting that person, I'll never pass. Also not sure about the background check. I have no criminal record anywhere in the world, but I was caught parking illegally once or twice in Vancouver

What do you hunt?
Hare and pheasant... a few pidgeons and ducks.

The next question should be: who has fired anything bigger than a handgun, you know something useful?...

Follow up question- did you hit them? Are you the first on the forum with a confirmed kill? :o

I think Siege is a much more likely claimant to that title.

Shooting a goat so you can throw it down a well doesn't count.
If by confirmed kill you mean rabbit vermin, then yes.

That was the automatic-loading 8 incher that the navy decided against deploying around 80, right?
Yep. The argument against was its lack of AA capacity, but frankly the 5"/54 lacked this as well against anything modern. There was an 5.5" sabot round that had a range of over 20nm.

I'm sure most rounds have a range of "over 20 nanometers," yes.

So do most squares and triangles.
Pistol, submachine gun, AK, machine gun and 40 mm Bofors AAA during military training.

It's a written exam on gun safety.

I'm not a US citizen, so I assume that my chances of getting a permit there is about zero. I happen to have a Canadian passport, but I have no idea how difficult it is to get a gun permit in Canada. If not for languish I won't even think about this kind of thing.
I may be wrong...but if you stopped at a gun store in Alaska, they'd probably wouldn't even care if you're a US citizen. And you sure as hell don't need a permit.
How much does the cheapest shotgun cost? US$10k? US$15k? I have no idea.
Mono's kind of shotgun:

I've only fired hunting rifles / shotguns. I've never used a pistol.
Fired pistols and shotguns, no rifles. At clay pigeons and targets, and never in cold blood.
Actually, I did shoot a rifle once at a target range somewhere on the Penna/Delaware border.
Most powerful gun was probably a Desert Eagle (?) visiting my friend's crazy uncle in New Hampshire. The police came after our firing practice, and he was just beginning his 2nd Amendment rant when the police clarified that they were only making sure there was no one poaching on his land. :D

Mono: About $350us

Yeah, maybe. I just wanted to slide the FMJ reference in.
I never had the opportunity to shoot a dazzling urbanite, and I thank the good Lord I was never put in that position.
Because I'd probably have been indicted.

If a Baltimore cop hasn't had occasion to shoot a black person, he probably hasn't been doing his job. I mean, really, there were hundreds of thousands of criminals for you to choose from.

There were some that worked 20 years and never took it out of their holster.
There were some that had 3 shootings their first 5 years.
I tended to avoid the latter.

They're certainly much safer, and don't possess other attendant psychotic issues such as snorting coke in the car and asking you if you want to shake down some Jamaicans for "fun".
