About eighty bucks.

I'm surprised how expensive these public transportation costs you guys have are. Damn.

Let's see... monthly transit pass costs $89.  That will take me door to door.  Problem is that the bus outside my house only comes on the half hour, and then takes you to the LRT which goes right to work.

Option two: 5 minute drive to the Park and Ride.  So you still need the $89 pass plus the 5 minutes worth of gas, but is generally much faster and convenient.  Unfortunately the park and ride fills up fast.  You can get away with 7:30 when university is out, but September-April it's more like 7:00 am.

Option three: work provides me with a deeply discounted underground parking space for $15 / month.  So I take advantage of that.  Edmonton is bisected by a river, and it doesn't have a ton of bridges.  Driving to work isn't too bad, taking 30-45 minutes, but if you leave work at anywhere near rush hour it takes 45-60 minutes to get home.  Also burn a tank of gas per week at a cost of $70-$80.

I basically mix and match between 2 and 3, taking the train as often as I can, but driving 1-2 per week.
Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

I commute by palanquin carried by slaves. Costs are limited to human.
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

I wonder how much human civilization wastes on commuting annually...

Wastes? I get a nice bit of reading done - and when I used to drive, used that time to keep in touch with all of my relatives.

Why do you always want information annually?

Ideally, I'd like it daily. -_-

Right now, about half a tank a month. 20-30 mins a day depending on traffic.

Wow you drive 20-30 minutes a day on only a half tank a month?

I only drive to/from work and fill up every other month, so yeah.

I'm about $111 monthly in gas and that includes shuttling the kids to and from pre-school.  Wife is $92 for her commute.

@21 miles each way. @16mpg. @$3.20 per gallon right now. 42/16=2.62 gallons.  2.62X3.20=$8.38 a day.

More like $24 if you take non-gasoline costs and wear and tear into account:

@21 miles each way.  $0.565 dollars per mile.  21X2X$0.565 = $23.73.

Math gives me a head ache.  I spend more than The Wife would like me to but I love driving my truck and I don't care the exact amount I spend driving it.  ;)
