The day I am picking between a Bernie and a Trump will be a dark day. But that is basically going to be 2020, literally in Trump's case.

I gotta say I am surprised by Bernie being so disliked here. He was clearly the superior candidate to both Trump and Clinton.

He's almost certainly a better person than either of them, but policy-wise he's way too far to the left to win a US Presidential election.  He would have done worse than Hilary in the general.

It's hilarious to see people continue to delude themselves into believing that somehow, in an alternate universe where Spock has a beard, that the same electorate that voted for an illiterate misogynist and racist surrounded by extremists and anti-semites in the general election would vote for a hardcore socialist Jew instead.

If Bernie had won the primary, white college-educated working women would have been all butthurt and voted for Jill Stein. 

Bernie also wouldn't have gotten some of the college educated moderates that HRC got, which would mean e.g. Virginia falls.  Based on his primary performance he probably also doesn't get as strong a minority turnout which would be a problem at the margins in many of the same states HRC struggled.

Yes obviously they don't en masse vote Stein, but some of them might sit, do less GOTV etc.
People keep forgetting Bernie lost the primary and it wasn't particularly close, and it wasn't because Debby Wasserman gave the Berniebros mean faces.

I would have voted for Bernie. At least he's a decent human being, if deluded.

I find people like him frustrating.  I dislike it when people put their own purity above messy business of actually governing.  Politics is also a team sport, and I think it's a bit odd to for someone who isn't actually on the team and never shows up to practice to expect to be picked as quarterback.

A lot of them did vote for a black man twice. Obama would have at least won a 2012 sized victory if he had been allowed to run.
