Fair point, more like 40ish percent.

Yeah, it's always been like that, at least in the memory of any posters here ('cept maybe grumbler);  very roughly, about 40% of voters nationwide will always vote Republican, about 40% will always vote Democratic, and about 20% are swing voters.

Of course the US has the right to build a wall.  I mean there's already a pretty sizeable wall on the border already.  The key fact of Trump's wall was that Mexico was going to pay for it (which of course was ludicrous).

Well except for where the border to Mexico coincides with an Indian reservation.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. It is unfortunate that it takes a fucking goofball like Donald Trump to bring any semblance of political attention, as warped as it may be, to the issue of Mexico--which, by most measures, would be one of our foreign policy priorities.

Let's face it:  if it were Maoist rebels instead of drug cartels committing so much bloodshed, we'd have three Combat Brigade Teams deployed.

The GOP is going to have to have a good long discussion about what makes a person conservative.

The GOP is going to have to have a good long discussion about what makes a person conservative.

Conservative just means wants to keep the status quo and managing the inevitible societal changes as slowly and painlessly as possible. By that Burkean definition it is hard to argue that the Democratic party is not the most conservative party in America, with the Republican, Libertarian and Green parties being various kinds of radicals.

Conservatives hate women, minorities, unions and government.  They love fetuses and money.

Canadian conservatives seem to be pretty much just monarchists.
