I hope Trump wins.  Just for the entertainment value.  Can't wait what he'll say when he visits, say, Beijing.

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

10-1 against The Donald winning the nomination.

Guller?  You're still down $20 on the books.  Let's clear it out or turn it into money.

What are the odds of my cat winning the nomination?

AMES, Iowa—Sitting on stage here at a summit of Iowa Christians on Saturday, Donald Trump took his ongoing feud with Sen. John McCain to a new level. "He's not a war hero," Trump said of a man who spent more than five years as a prisoner in a North Vietnam war camp. "He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured."

I'm losing track here. Is McCain even running? Why attack him in such a callous way? Aye, Trump avoided capture allright, he never served to begin with.

Starting to think he's just there to make the other loons seem reasonable in comparison.

I'll bet against Trump.  To me, the only question is at what point does his clown act wear out his welcome.  So, $20 to me if Trump doesn't get the nomination, $200 to you if he does?

It's like the Donald is running some kind of tarnish-the-Republican's image troll campaign. :hmm:
That thought actually occurred to me.  I was surprised the first time I learned Trump was a Republican, because the only time before that I heard him speak about politics, he was saying how the record seems to indicate that Democrats are much better for the economy.

No good.  I'm short on that bet too.

So you were offering me to go long on this?  Do I look like a moron?

How obnoxious is it?

For years I've thought about posting in this thread "it is definitely too early", but I procrastinated, and I think I missed my window.  :(

I still think it is a bit early. I think we will be able to tell when things start to get serious by the timing of Trump dropping out. He is like a sort of presidential election groundhog. As long as he is around, we know we have at least 6 more weeks of non seriousness.

Depends on the lighting.

FWIW I think Bernie Sanders is sort of like the sane less ridiculous counterpart of Donald Trump. He does well in polls (at least in key states), but I think he has no chance to get the nomination. When it comes time to actually vote, I dont think democrats will choose a really old guy who has self identified as a socialist. Democrats would be almost handing the republicans the presidency (barring something like Cruz getting the nomination).

I don't think Democrat primary voters will have much of a problem with a self proclaimed socialist.  He doesn't have a chance because Hillary has a lock on the female and black votes.

They will when they see polling that indicates he will underperform in a national election.

We have different conceptions of the thought processes of primary voters.
