Why do people that don't believe in a god go to church?

1. Spiritual connectedness
2. Fellowship and Social Support
3. Becuase I enjoy it
4. I get to do charity and community work with people I enjoy being with
5. I may not agree theologically with everything but I do philosophically.

I think #3 is really the only reason anybody should ever go to a religious institution but that's just me. :P

Interesting.  For point #3, other than the other points you mentioned what do you enjoy about it? Is it the familar ritual or something else?

Why do people that do believe in God go to church?  I see it as no more logical a behavior.... IIRC the Bible doesn't state that you are required to.

Belief in a single, personal god is no more weird than any other spiritual belief, nor it is in any way more relevant for going to a temple.

I'd guess they go for some of the things mentioned by Valmy. Also for communal prayer and reinforcement of belief.

I would say the music and the positive energy.  It balances out the cynicism I feel the rest of the week :P

Yeah, I was more asking rhetorically.  I have no idea what your personal beliefs are.

Although U-U's use the term "church", a better way to think of their buildings is as an all-inclusive Masonic temple.

silly quiz. I rejected all ritual, but clicked "revere nature most righteously (sic)" and so I wound up as neopagan 100%.

so if I think clean water and good  personal hygiene is very important, does that make me a Baptist?  :D
