Assuming the quality is comparable to that in normal department stores, do you shop at discount stores (such as Walmart or Lidl)?

No, of course not.

Relax.  They're diet.
Soda is for poor people.  You've got positive cash flow now so you should stop drinking poor people stuff. :)

What should he drink?
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I actually never held to Communism, except as fighting words. Various flavours of Socialism and Anarchism yes, Communism no.
Anarchism?  That's terrible.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

It wasn't the most thoroughly considered political flirtation of my life.

What should he drink?
Acceptable substitutes include water, unsweetened iced tea, coffee, (hot) tea, and alcohol.

Wait, so soda is for poor people only, but water, which is practically free, is fine?

Anyway, all the other things on your list taste like crap.

Substituting soda for alcohol seems like a good way to get poor.  And tea?  Talk about the drink for the poor.  You seem to have confused affluent with European or Chinese.

crazy canuck

We bought some desks and book shelfs for the boys at Ikea.  That is about as discount as I get.

I drink mostly mountain spring water.

Which comes from my tap.

Boring; disgusting; best in moderation; terrible and labor-intensive; and yeah, that's worked out great.

That said, even I have to admit I'm maybe drinking too many a day.  I had about sixteen at work.  That's only four bucks, so basically what I would pay for a decent coffee, but also a lot of acid and maybe too much caffeine.  I think there may be some link between my insomnia and my soda drinking.

This thread reminded me that recently I saw some sort of boxed dinner in the grocery store that was Larry the Cable Guy brand.  Seeing it did save me some money, because I lost my appetite and didn't want to buy anything to eat.

I'd been trying to forget seeing it, though, so this thread kinda sucks.

Ironic but not as different from the overal trend, where the more processed food something is, the more it becomes the chow of the poor in modern societies, while the rich eat (high quality) fairly unprocessed food.
