You two are hilarious.

We owe you.  It was you and Hans that leads us to sites were see what Republicans are saying to one another.  When you guys give us links to websites like FreeRepublic, NewsMax, Breitbart, and the like do you not expect us to read them?  When we look at threads and comments  on these websites should we discount them?  You brought us there.  So when I see nasty racist rants on Free Republic or death threats on Breitbart's comment pages take them seriously.  After all, Good solid Republicans like you and Hans wanted us to read from those sites.

You know, you keep saying that.  Over.  And over.  And over.  But it's not like I've ever bombarded Languish with right-wing sites.  I don't recall Hans doing that very much, either.

When did this Fast and Furious story break?

About a year & a half ago, IIRC.

I think it blew up after CBS did a piece on it, but it had been floating in the ether a little bit earlier, fall 2010.

I wouldn't have know about them if you hadn't brought them to us.  I owe you a debt of gratitude.  How else would I have know what Republicans really think?  Hans used to do that constantly.  He doesn't do it anymore (mostly because he's not hear very often), but back in 2004-2005 he'd post some innane NRO article once a week.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I know you're trying to make me feel like I majorly fucked up, but it's not working.

And he was held in contempt. Thanks Dems for walking out...?

So what's the effect of this on him, or on anyone/anything?

From what I've read his response has been more or less. "You're goddamn right I'm in contempt of Congress, the entire country is in contempt of Congress. I have work to do."

I used to enjoy reading my dad's NR(offline) magazines. Usually disagreed with the authors, but they were still well-written and thought-provoking.

The Issue is that that the GOP is in denial that American guns are being smuggled across the border and going to cartels.  The Fast and Furious operation was attempt to demonstrate that.

No, the Fast and Furious operation was an attempt to seize weapons bought by identified straw purchasers, which they found out in Arizona they couldn't do, as Federal prosecutors determined that according to Arizona law, they were still legal purchases.  And then they went over the border to the cartels.

These are both great theories, but I'm having difficulty seeing how either of them create a motivation to withhold DOJ communications from the public.  More the opposite in fact.  Maybe you could help me see the connection?

Max: it's the same as any other allegation of wrongdoing.  If the press runs with it and the public notices Holder gets thrown under the bus, if they don't it fizzles out and nothing happens.
