I don't really have $50K to spend on hobbies, not without serious impact on other plans.

We already know about your weakness for overpriced strollers.  I think I now know why you are arguing the other side so strenously.

Besides, if I could pick up a piece of property valued at 2m for only 50k.  I would do it.

Well even if that is what he was saying then you are still talking about means to pay.  Obviously our resident gun enthusiast has made the judgment he does and the price is less than normal.  Therefore it is inexpensive.

For a collecter, as opposed to an investor, "in that way lies madness".  ;)

An investor cares about the difference between market value and actual value, because the investor intends to capitalize on that difference.

The collector cares about collecting, of which there is really no end. If a collector is moved to purchase a new acquisition because it is a "bargain", they are spending money above and beyond what they have allocated to their hobby. It's not a good sign, if indulged in too frequently.

No, that assumption may is not necessarily true.  For example in this very example.  He bought it because he both wanted to acquire this gun and it was a good deal.  He does not go out buying up all the guns he can on the basis they are good deals.  Although to the extent he has the means to do so - why not?

Yes, 2013 is the most Ive bought in any given year at four and havent went over 2k.

Trip to Cabela's today. Scored 100 .40 Cal FMJ, Box of 250 Nosler 135gr JHP in .40 Cal, 200 Magtec 180gr JHP, and other goodies. Only powder they had was for the .50 BMG.

I'll load the 180gr Magtecs in the 10mm Auto. The 135gr Noslers in the .40 S&W even though that bullet is  a little light. It will be zippy loaded to 1300 fps. Too light for the 10mm Auto.

Wish I had a Cabelas nearby. I can spend hours in one even if I don't buy anything. We have a Bass Pro in Cincy but I'd trade it for a Cabelas any day.

 Gun Nuts.

If you see a gun on the guns international website advertised by cabelas, you can call any cabelas in the country. They will ship it to a cabelas nearest you for 25.00 so you can give it a good once over before buying it.  :D

I dunno, everyone likes checking out stuff associated to their hobby.

I can spend an hour in a bookstore without buying anything, or hours in a wargame store, if such a thing existed anymore.
