TV series recommendation is sought

And Shaun of the Dead was mentioned in connection with a TV series, Spaced, as it has the same people doing it.

Father Ted ended in 1998. It isn't exactly recent but I think there's a fair chance he hasn't seen it before.

Definatly on Black Books. For some reason that one always seems to go down well with European friends where other funny series don't as much.

That's because TV was actually good in the good old days. 

Tamas, might I suggest: I Love Lucy, Mister Ed, My Favorite Martian, The Munsters, All in the Family, and The Great Grape Ape?

Actually this, of all stupid crap ever uttered on Languish about how something old was better than what we have now, is the biggest of them all.

TV is one of the areas where the last 10 years or so saw incredible growth in quality, compared to the previous decades.

Fringe is great imho (which really is the only opinion that matters) also if 30 Rock doesn't make you laugh you need to seek help. I'm digging that new show "The Unusuals" very quirky.

All you seem to be saying here, based on your examples, is that you like TV shows that are on HBO and so not bound by the content restrictions of the other channels.  The Wire, Deadwood, SFU...all HBO.

I watched Enterprise, but it is not as good as TNG, which was 10 years prior.
