There's a DS version thats apparently pretty good.

The same plot device (time travel, as opposed to that dimensional shit from Chrono Cross), characters, and setting would be good.  The story can be different, sure.

There was a game on the PS1 set in Japan where you dueled somebody and the game was very lethal. You pop somebody in the head and they went down. hit them in the leg and they limped around. None of that lifebar shit.

I'd like a remake of that. Whatever it was called.
