Hopefully they don't go ahead with the tween Dora, I think people complained about it a few years ago.

My nieces go to private school, so the 7 year old now speaks Japanese.

On the flip side, my Puerto Rican babysitter's two kids are growing up refusing to speak a word of Span(gl)ish.  She tried to force them to watch Spanish-language versions of their favorite channels but they apparently refused

For whatever reason, Tommy won't speak to my wife in Spanish, but I can get him to do it.  He understands everything, but prefers to speak English.

Dora & Diego dropped out of Tommy's rotation a while back.  I wasn't a huge fan of it.  Now if I could just get him to stop watching Max & Ruby obsessively.  Damned canucklehead programming...

Totally anecdotal, but the general rule I'd heard is that Spanish-speaking bilingual families lose their Spanish fluency in 3 generations...

Me and some of my cousins lost it in 2.
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

And yet, what you picked up wasn't quite English. :P

It's "my cousins and I." ;)

And this shows how fucking bored I am. Raging against children's TV.
If only they had crossed Dora over with Battlestar Galactica!

Consumer product documentation for stuff coming out of Korea will get even worse in the next few years.
