Hopefully they don't go ahead with the tween Dora, I think people complained about it a few years ago.

My nieces go to private school, so the 7 year old now speaks Japanese.

Totally anecdotal, but the general rule I'd heard is that Spanish-speaking bilingual families lose their Spanish fluency in 3 generations...
