Vegas annoys me most of all.

The Drake curse lives, he bet $1million on the leafs.

So, Leafs came back in the third period. Right?

They did...for about 40 seconds.

We were having dinner at a friends house last night - Leafs fans.  The game was on in a TV in another room with the sound off. My friend was talking with his back to the TV.

I saw the Leafs score, and was going to tell him, but didn't want to interrupt what he was saying. By the time there was a gap in the conversation, there was no good news to tell him.

Not NHL Hockey, but Denmark just beat Canada in the World Cup hockey quarter finals for World Cup hockey?

Grey Fox

It happens. Good for Denmark. You can have all of the island now.
Getting ready to make IEDs against American Occupation Forces.

"But I didn't vote for him"; they cried.

Huzzah for Nik Ehlers!

Actually - Jacob can you confirm/deny that Nik Ehlers father Heinz is still the head coach for Denmark?
Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

Come on Edmonton, dust yourself off.

He is not, as far as I can tell. The head coach is listed as Mikael Gath.

In Canada, this whole thing has very much a "for you it was the greatest day in your life, for me it was Tuesday" kind of vibe. Canada is like "you win some you lose some. We should have won, but oh well - back to the NHL playoffs."

Meanwhile in Denmark it's "this is the wildest thing I've ever seen!" (from hockey fans) and "we actually beat the best team in the world! OMG!!11!!!". It's even getting random Swedes commenting "well done", which says something.

Someone mentioned the stat that Toronto has more hockey referees than Denmark has hockey players at all levels.

HVC

Would have stung more if we were rivals. Losing to Rudy doesn't hurt as bad as losing to someone you hate :D

Well it's nice and all for Denmark but that tournament has always just been a place Canadian players go to work on their game/confidence if they're out of the playoffs.  Never got any serious vibes about it here.

Even with significant skill gaps it's a team game and the best team effort usually wins.

Hockey World Championship are never closely followed because of the timing during the NHL playoffs.  Nearly everyone is glued to the playoffs until their team is out.

It's very good hockey, but it's not the Olympics, meaning that not all of the best players for all teams are there, only those that choose to join (after an invite) when their team does not make the playoffs or is eliminated early.

It's not like that winter tournament either, US vs Canada where US played dirty and Canadian players were innocent angels as usual.

It's good, clean hockey, often no serious rivalry, with some good players, some average players, but overall, not a lot of chemistry between them because they don't have much time to practice together as a team.  It's like a bunch of conscripts rushed to the front to plug holes.

Which kinda gives an advantage to teams who have less NHL players.  Less overall talent, but better team playing skills.
I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

saskganesh

I like the Worlds. It's bring what you got, not bring what you want. Grats to Denmark.

Shanahan is finally out in Toronto, and is being considered by the Islanders to replace Lou Lamoriello. Very ironic.

OToH, when their club is out of the play-offs, World Championships get more interesting.  :P
