Loved it. Also a bit more humanisation of Henry. A bit of background to his own slight damage rather than just MID LIFE CRISIS.

And I really like his sister.

Yes and yes!

My flatmate hates the show

On what grounds?

Haven't seen it yet. But I would happily have a series of Scotty - fun black lesbian.

To be honest, the episode of Banana really isn't worth watching unless said character (who was completely new, I believe) becomes reoccurring.

And yes on the Scotty front. She's awesome.

My initial suspicion is overwhelming homophobia.

Another option is that in terms of TV and film she's lead a rather sheltered life - didn't have a TV as a child hasn't watched so many things you just assume everyone's seen. And she tends not to like things that are a little bit sadder. She finds it very bleak and kind of tragic, whereas I agree it has those elements but also think it's very funny and warm.

I can see that though I think that primarily tone is warm and hopeful. So far there is no indication that any of the core characters have been truly harmed / that it wont all work out. :D

Admiral Yi

Just watched "Her."

It was intelligent, convincing, complex.  I'm just not sure it's a movie.

Why you say so? I'm curious.

Ideologue

Now, I'm pretty sure it was images filmed and replayed at a sufficient numbers of frames per second to exploit human persistence of vision.

Jupiter Ascending was kind of crap, so the gal and I watched Flash Gordon to make ourselves feel better.  It worked. :)

Spartacus is on Netflix now.  I missed this the first time around.  I am enjoying it.  I imagine that back in the day Marti gushed with praise.

Not only is it gay porn, it's gay violence porn.

It's also a sobering tale of how fleeting life can be. :(

this version is uncensored, I guess.  The one on tv had much less male nudity than the Blu ray version.

Watch an interesting documentary about David Warwick, he of star wars and willow fame, who was trying to get an theatre production going with the cast solely of people with dwarfism. Rather touching story, worth a viewing.
