Like, I loved Tron: Legacy, which is one of the best things ever despite being misunderstood by snobs and old people with a lack of appreciation for colors and action.

Unlike you, I thought it was great. Needed about 45 minutes trimmed out but that was all. Of course, I also watched it while drinking champagne (kids it could have been sparkling wine but I don't know, I didn't purchase it and never looked at the bottle).

Is 'The Wolf of Wall Street' worth 2.75 hours of mine time this evening?

It certainly is. I think it's Scorsese's best since Goodfellas.

75% of the film is an onslaught of sex, drugs and booze, so be warned. I can understand people thinking it drags sometimes, although I thought that was sorta the point; it's rich people porn.

It certainly is. I think it's Scorsese's best since Goodfellas.

Heh, if I had a list like Seedy this would definitely earn you a spot. 

I mean, liking Wolf of Wall Street at all, liking it better than Cape Fear, Hugo, Gangs of New York, Aviator, Shutter Island... agree to disagree. But liking it better than The Departed and Casino? Fuggedaboudit.

I didn't hate it. Thus, better than Wolf of Wall Street.

Departed's good, but it's Scorsese making a clean, perfectly-cut, Oscar-bait film (like Aviator), which just happens to have Marky Mark spouting loads of profanity and Jack Nicholson being Jack Nicholson (which is never a bad thing). I like him much more when he's raw and unbridled, like Goodfellas or Casino. Those films have an energy Departed wouldn't even dream about, while telling compelling stories. Wolf has that, too.

I think the HK original is better, by the way. Much more emotional.

I was close to writing "better since Casino", but ultimately decided I like Wolf more. It's something I might change my mind about.

Anyway, The Departed might be my favorite Scorsese movie that I've seen,* just for its thriller mechanics (however Made in China they happen to be).  The Wolf of Wall Street is really good, just also really long (and it's kind of fucked, tonally, too).

*Well, other than After Hours.
