Scarface (1983)

I had seen the original 1932 Scarface, but never the remake.  It is about what I'd expect from a Brian de Palma remake of a Howard Hawks films; way more bloodshed and way less subtext.  Cuban Michael Corleone is something of a ham, but since nothing else in the picture is subtle it fits pretty well.

Other than the tree rape in the original and the remake, and the Exorcist-riff cunnilingus and incest talk in the latter, I think the Evil Dead flicks are 100% appropriate for ten and up.  Even the new one's slightly more realistic violence is still preposterously cartoonish.  I guess there's some other foul language in it, but I've been on XBox Live.  I know how kids these days talk.
