Any opinion of Ringer?

I actually like it

I think I could see watching it, if it lasts.  But then I liked Buffy.

Also Buffy's watcher on Free Agents? :D

Head was in the English Original, he has a real career there...

Though I like how Stephen Mangan is in the original Free Agents, then does a comedy (Episodes) about how an English success gets ruined in a translation to American TV only to have Free Agents get translated to American TV to apparently universal bad reviews. I don't know if this is art imitating life or life imitating art. Or if any of the above can be considered art at all.... except episodes which is pretty smart TV...

Though, it seems that the only consistently interesting and compelling writing that Hollywood does right almost every time is stories about Hollywood itself.

Can any of you think about a badly written movie/TV show about Hollywood itself?
First Maxim - "There are only two amounts, too few and enough."
First Corollary - "You cannot have too many soldiers, only too few supplies."
Second Maxim - "Be willing to exchange a bad idea for a good one."
Second Corollary - "You can only be wrong or agree with me."

A terrorist which starts a slaughter quoting Locke, Burke and Mill has completely missed the point.
The fact remains that the only person or group to applaud the Norway massacre are random Islamists.

Glee is much better than Community.
See, shit like this is why you don't get rescued from your bans.  You say ridiculous things like that.  Slargos is actually less offensive than you are.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

Glee is marginally better than Two and a Half Men.
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

I don't think that thing says what you meant it to.

Community so rocks.
Did the new episode have John Goodman on it already? How's Omar...err...Michael Williams on his role?
Yup and OK.

There was a fantastic 2001: A Space Odyessy sequence as well.
That was the best part of the show, that and John Goodman.  It was especially awesome because I watch 2001 fairly frequently, and it annoys my wife.  Actually, between 2001 and Doctor Who, this one was full of sci-fi.

I got to watch it last night. The parodies of British tv series were great.

Finally had the chance to watch Paths of Glory yesterday. How the fuck did I miss that one?

My GF was expecting the three patzies to be reprieved at the last minute, she was constantly turning at me asking "Why isn't the General (Brulard) intervening to stop this?" Oh boy she was bummed down when they got shot anyway.  :nelson:

Because it was made back in 1957. That's a big backlog of movies.
Colonel Caliga is Awesome.

Habsburg

Pan Am

I really liked this, stylish and snappy.

THE Iconic airline fairly well represented.
Pan Am Worldport at Idlewild (now JFK) looked great interior and good exterior (CGI yuk, but it would cost too much otherwise.)

707s CGI bad to very good.  DC-6 at Havana good.

707 Interior excellent and realistic.  First Class might have had another row or two, but I won't quibble.

Yes, I know all this trivia (and more) and someone took the time to research.  I'm impressed.

Ricci was fun and snappy.  The French girl stole the show.  The Pilots were too young, and dorks.

My Sunday night 10pm until Mad Men returns.

Tonitrus

"A Gifted Man", new CBS drama series.

About a hot-shot, cynical neurosurgeon who is haunted by the ghost of his ex-wife to do good.  Kind of like if  one of those ghosts from A Christmas Carol showed up and never went away (and was your MILF ex-wife that you left for your career and that you never really got over).

Premise seemed interesting.  Execution was horrendous to watch.  If it lasts more than 6 episodes, I will be surprised.

Darth Wagtaros

Simpsons opener was good.  Unfortunately, the Cleveland Show followed and sucked.  Enough that I gave up on TV and missed the opening of Family Guy and American Dad, whih may have been a good thing.
PDH!

You didn't miss much. I still want to know who at Fox Seth MacFarlane is blowing to get a blank check over there.

Karine Vanasse, from Quebec, IIRC.

I started watching Little Fokkers.  I'm not finishing this.  That's horrible, with stupid jokes (some puke here, some blood there).  Bah.

So our DVR hasn't worked for a couple months, and I get frustrated dealing with the cable company each time so I've left it.  Until yesterday - fixing the DVR was my Task Of The Day.

So, I find the proper connection order - turn on the HDD, connect it to the cable box, turn on the cable box.  But nothing.  So I call the cable company help desk.  They offer to do a call back - in four hours.  :bleeding:

So we wait about 3 hours, and the cable company calls while I'm talking to my mother.  We have call waiting, so I try and take their call.  It says "press 1 when you are available" - so I press one, and get the response "we did not understand your response.  After going through this three times they hang up. :ultra:

They do call back 30 minute4s later, this time I do get connected to someone.  I explain my problem, then they say that sorry, you've been connected with billing.  They'll get technical support to call back - in four hours. :bleeding: :bleeding:

Getting on to early evening now (started at 11:30) I get another call.  The guy on the other end has me re-connect the HDD and cable box in the proper order (I told him I'd already done this, but whatever - I get he wants to make sure).  When that fails to do anything, he sends some re-set signal.  But now not even the cable box is working.  He tries again, and still nothing.  He says he'll have to send a technician - in two weeks. <_<  I say 'okay fine, but wait a sec - before I called only my DVR wasn't working - now the cable box isn't working.  What's going on'?  He responds that it should work just fine if I disconnect the HDD, and gets off the line.

So I disconnect the HDD, and of course the cable box still doesn't work. :ultra: :ultra:

So I can get a basic signal by connecting the cable right into the TV, but that means no high def, no premium channels.  My wife is pissed because she's going to miss Dexter or something on HBO.  I'm pissed because we pay them a lot of money for those channels suddenly we won't get, and that they made me waste my Sunday on this shit.
Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

That makes Time Warner seem snappy and responsive.
